READ-A-THON

Reminder, ALL reading records need to be in to teachers by October 31 no later than 3:00 p.m. to be eligible for prizes.

UNIFORMS

Please note October 2 was the start for students to wear regular school uniform.  Summer uniforms are no longer accepted.  Also, please ensure students have all items in good order and that all items of their uniform including proper shoes and sweaters are brought daily.  Gym strip should also be at school during PE Days. Girls should only wear white, navy blue or black hair pieces (i.e. no cat ears, no sparkly pieces or big bright flowers).

EARLY MORNING PEER TUTORING

Reminder that early morning peer tutoring began on Thursday, October 12. Please ensure students and tutors are at school between 8:00 a.m. – 8:10 a.m.  Sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

AGAPE STREET MINISTRY DONATIONS

Once again, we reach out to OLS families for their donations of extra Halloween candy. We will be accepting candy until November 3.  All candy donated will go to AGAPE Street Ministry.

OCTOBER 20, 2017 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY – NO SCHOOL

There will be a Professional Development Day for OLS staff on Friday, October 20.  There will be no school for students on this day.

OCTOBER 23, 2017 – CONFIRMATION PARENT MEETING 6:30 P.M.

Further details will be sent home with students.

OCTOBER 27, 2017 – Annual OLS Halloween Bash

Please join us for the OLS Annual Halloween Bash on Friday, October 27th at 6pm. This is a family fun community event that will happen in our school gym. Tickets are $10 and this includes access to 12 carnival games, dragon bouncy castle and dancing. Every child is guaranteed to win a prize! Returning this year is the White Spot Food Truck, Ragazzi Pizza, Cash Bar and Concession. Food items & concession will be available on a first come, first serve. Please pre-order food to guarantee availability. Food will be served until 9pm and the event will go until 10:30pm. Invite family & friends to join the fun! Costumes are recommended. Please return MONEY & ORDER FORMS by Tuesday, October 24th, 2017.

OLS HALLOWEEN RAFFLE DRAW

The OLS Halloween Raffle is here. We have 4 incredible prizes this year! Tickets are only $2 each or $20.00 per booklet! We are asking every family to please sell one book of 10 tickets to family and friends, or buy tickets for yourself. If you need more tickets, please contact the school office to arrange for pick up or send a note with your child. All money raised will contribute to updating Technology in our school. Raffle winners will be announced at the Annual Halloween Bash on Friday, October 27, 2017. Winners do not need to be present to win and prizes can be picked up at the school office. ALL raffle money and tickets (sold or unsold) must be returned by Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

OCTOBER 29, 2017 – FAMILY MASS at 11:30 A.M.

The Family Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 29.  We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass with our School Choir.  The OLS Family Mass is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the Sunday liturgy.

OCTOBER 31, 2017 – COLOUR DAY

Students may come to school dressed in Halloween colours (eg. orange and black) on this day. $2 will be collected for the Holy Childhood Association.

CROSS-COUNTRY UPDATE

OLS finished in a very respectable 7th place overall out of 34 school that competed in the CISVA Cross-Country Championship held on October 4th.  We finished in 4th place in the small school category out of 24 schools!

Thank you very much parents for your support to our athletes and to our cross-country running program. OLS coaches and staff are extremely proud of our Cross-Country runners for their dedication and tremendous effort during this cross-country season.

Congratulations to all those students that took part in our running program this year. A special congratulation to the following students that placed in the top 25 (out of a possible 125-140 students in each race).
