Please note, as the weather gets colder and rainier, we are asking parents to ensure students have proper Jackets and shoes, as well as NOT sending students who have gym in the morning only with PE strip! Students MUST stay outside until 8:35 a.m. as we have to ensure adequate supervision in the school while teachers are in staff prayer. Also, students may have to be outside throughout the day for recess or movement between the buildings (gym and Church). Please send jackets with hoods for your children to school daily, as well as ensuring proper uniform. Thank you.
UBC EARLY DEVELOPMENT STUDY
Consent forms have been sent home with students in Kindergarten to Grade 4. The purpose of this study is to learn more about how children understand and learn in the world around them. This form is now past due. If we have not received your signed consent form, not allowing your child to participate, we will assume you give permission to have your child participate in this study
CHRISTMAS CONCERT/SANTA BREAKFAST DONATIONS UPDATE
Thank you to all our parents and families who donated to the Christmas Concert. The proceeds from the Concert and Santa Breakfast will be split between The Door is Open-the Downtown Needs Association, the Holy Childhood Association, and finally our School Music Program. JANUARY 14, 2020 – EARLY MORNING PEER TUTORING
The Early Morning Peer Tutoring Program will resume on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Please remember to send both tutors and tutees through the Gr. 1 side door. Students should not be using the front entrance.
JANUARY 14 AND 15, 2020 – LICE CHECK
With the colder and wetter weather upon us, the students are indoors more, and our Lice Nurse Volunteer has reminded us to continue checking for lice at home on a weekly basis. The next school-wide lice check will be conducted on Tuesday, January 14th (Intermediate) and Wednesday, January 15th (Primaries). Thank you to Mrs. Kraljevic for doing this once again.
JANUARY 15, 22 & 29, 2020 – DOWNHILL SKIING
Downhill skiing for the Grade 7 class will begin on Wednesday, January 15th and will continue the following two Wednesdays, January 22nd and January 29th. Notre Dame Regional High School will be having an open house on Thursday, January 16th at 6:00 p.m. The Placement Exam will take place on Monday, January 20th at 8:30 a.m.
JANUARY 17 & 24, 2020 – CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING.

JANUARY 26, 2020 – FAMILY MASS – 11:30 a.m.
The Family Mass will be on Sunday, January 26th at 11:30 a.m. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass with our OLS School Choir. The OLS Family Mass is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy. The Knights of Columbus usually have a pancake breakfast FREE for our students after the Family Mass, so we hope you can all enjoy and participate in this important celebration.
JANUARY 27, 2020 – FIRST COMMUNION PARENTS’ MEETING
The First Communion meeting will be held on Monday, January 27th at 6:45 p.m. in the gym. One parent from each family must attend.
JANUARY 30, 2020 – NO EARLY MORNING PEER TUTORING

HOT LUNCH ORDERS FOR NEXT SCHOOL SESSION
Ordering for the hot lunch spring session opened today, Wednesday, January 8th. Ordering will close on Wednesday, January 22nd at 5 p.m. Once the ordering is closed, we cannot accept any other orders. Orders that have not been paid for by Wednesday, January 22nd at 5 p.m. will be cancelled. If you are sending cash or cheques, it must be received by Wednesday, January 22nd by 3 p.m. so your account can be adjusted by the deadline. You must order for the whole session by the deadline.
Payments can be made by cheque or cash (dropped off at the office in an envelope with your child’s name on it) or by credit card online. Please note, the school does get charged transaction fees for the credit card payment so if you’d prefer to pay by cheque or cash, that is welcome.

If you are unsure of what to do on a snow day, please follow the Extreme Weather/Snow Weather Procedures which is located in the download section on the school website: Please do not call the school as the phones will be busy. Student safety is very important! Please arrive early and drop off prior to 8:45 a.m. The playground area is supervised from 8:15 – 8:45 a.m. in the morning and 2:50 – 3:05 p.m.
Please follow drop off zone rules! Please do not block the driveways as we have regular deliveries and drop offs in the morning as well! Also, please refrain from bringing dogs into the playground areas or school as it contravenes the Health By-laws. They are fine to wait outside the playground. Thank you for your attention to all matters related to student safety!
It is very important that you call the school by 8:30 a.m. if your child will be absent or late. This will eliminate the need to call you to check if your child is home. Upon your child’s return to school, you must send a note to the classroom teacher explaining the reason for the absence. Please also include all dates absent. If you have more than one child, we require separate notes for each one. This information is required for our annual Attendance Audit which determines our Government funding for the year.
