MARCH 7, 2018- IMPORTANT DATE! MANDATORY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Mandatory General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the school gym. A member from each family must attend this mandatory meeting or a fine will be charged as per the Policy Handbook on Page 10 of your child’s Agenda. If you are unable to attend due to illness, vacation, etc., a letter must be sent addressed to the Parish Education Committee explaining why you will be absent from the meeting. This meeting will also have a classroom component from 7-8 pm for the parents of Grades 4 to 7. Please refer to attached letter from the Archbishop regarding this. As well, there will be a presentation on anxiety for the parents of K-3, by registered psychologist, Dr Kim DaSilva.  Please note that the Registration Packages will be available for pick up only at the Annual General Meeting.  The packages will not be given out prior to the meeting.

LENT BOXES
Lent boxes have been sent home with students, please ensure your child has brought theirs home. All boxes will be collected after Easter Monday (Tuesday, April 3). We ask that ALL students label their box with their house colour. We also ask that you print the amount collected on the box. Please use this opportunity to encourage your child to give alms (to do charitable work). Last year OLS students raised just over $2,800.00, let’s try and meet/beat this amount.

PUB NIGHT UPDATE
We wish to thank the Grade 7 organizing committee for an amazing Night of Fun, Great Prizes and Great Community! Thank you to all those who attended and donated prizes!

2017 SCHOOL INCOME TAX RECEIPTS
The 2017 School Income Tax receipts went home with students on Tuesday, February 27. If your child has not given you the Tax Receipt, please ensure you check his/her back pack for your receipt.

REMINDERS:

OUR LADY OF SORROWS PRESCHOOL
We are now accepting registration for both the Three-Year-Old and Four-Year-Old Preschool classes for September 2018 – June 2019 school year. For further information, please contact the school at 604-253-2434 or by email preschool@myolosschool.com

ABSENTEE REMINDER:
A friendly reminder: When sending in absentee notes, please ensure you add your child’s first and last name, grade, absence date, and reason for absence. It is very important that an absentee note is sent to school each time your child is away.

SUPERVISION AT SCHOOL GAMES – URGENT!
Please do not send unsupervised children to any school sports games held in the gym. If you would like your child to wait for their sibling at the gym, you must make prior arrangements with another parent to supervise your child at the game. Send a notice to your child’s teacher with the following information; the school sport game, time and the name of the parent you are giving permission for your child to attend the game with. If you are unable to make arrangements for another parent to supervise your child, your child must be sent to the After-School Club, where supervision will be provided.

WEATHER PROCEDURES
As there is always a good chance there will be very wet/rainy days during the winter months in Vancouver, please ensure your child(ren) is prepared for wet/cold weather (coats, hats, proper footwear etc.). This is important because students spend most of the school day 8:45 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. in the school, and there is always the possibility that they may need to be outside for 10-15 minutes of recess, fresh air, or movement between the church, gym and school.

If you are still unsure of what to do if it snows, please follow the Extreme Weather/Snow Weather Procedures which is in the download section on the school website: www.ourladyofsorrows.ca
