MARCH 7, 2018- IMPORTANT DATE! MANDATORY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Mandatory General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the school gym. A member from each family must attend this mandatory meeting or a fine will be charged as per the Policy Handbook on Page 10 of your child’s Agenda. If you are unable to attend due to illness, vacation, etc., a letter must be sent addressed to the Parish Education Committee explaining why you will be absent from the meeting. This meeting will also have a classroom component from 7-8 pm for the parents of Grades 4 to 7. Please refer to attached letter from the Archbishop regarding this. As well, there will be a presentation on anxiety for the parents of K-3, by registered psychologist, Dr Kim DaSilva. Registration packages will only be available for pick up at the Annual General Meeting. Please note the packages will not be given out prior to the meeting.
DESK CLEAR OUT – MARCH 8, 2018
Please send a large black garbage bag to school with your child on Thursday, March 8. The students will need the bag in order to clear out their entire desk for Spring Break cleaning. This does not pertain to Kindergarten.
CURLING DATE CHANGE FOR GRADE 5 STUDENTS
One of the dates for curling lessons for the Grade 5 students was changed to Monday (March 5). The next lesson will be on Monday, March 26. The Grade 5 class will not be going curling on Tuesday, March 27 as previously shown on the March 2018 Calendar.
Lent boxes have been sent home with students, please ensure your child has brought theirs home. All boxes will be collected after Easter Monday (Tuesday, April 3). We ask that ALL students label their box with their house colour. We also ask that you print the amount collected on the box. Please use this opportunity to encourage your child to give alms (to do charitable work). Last year OLS students raised just over $2,800.00, let’s try and meet/beat this amount.
2017 SCHOOL INCOME TAX RECEIPTS
2017 School Income Tax receipts went home with students on Tuesday, February 27. If your child has not given you the Tax Receipt, please ensure you check his/her back pack for your receipt.
MARCH 11, 2018 – DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME – THIS WEEKEND!
Sunday, March 11 daylight savings time begins and clocks “spring forward” one hour. The time should be changed one hour ahead before going to bed on Saturday evening.
MARCH 12 – MARCH 23, 2018 – SPRING BREAK
The school will be closed for Spring Break the weeks of March 12, 2018 to March 23, 2018. School will reopen on Monday, March 26. We would like to wish all families a safe and healthy Spring Break.

A friendly reminder: When sending in absentee notes, please ensure you add your child’s first and last name, grade, absence date, and reason for absence.
