MAY 2019 – SPRING UNIFORM NEWS
Students may now wear their Spring uniform to school. However, please note that students must be in FULL UNIFORM (Sweaters, vests or cardigans and black shoes) on Mass or special days.

MAY 6-12, 2019 – NEAT UNIFORMS FOCUS WEEK
Neat Uniforms welcomes Our Lady of Sorrows’ parents to shop during May 6-12, 2019 for uniforms. This year, Neat Uniforms will be offering 10% in Gift Certificates on the total purchase which can be used towards any future purchases! Uniforms should be replaced due to children outgrowing them or wear and tear.
MAY 9TH AND MAY 11TH, 2019 – FIRST COMMUNION NEWS
On Thursday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m. there will be a mandatory First Communion Rehearsal for all Grade 2 students and parents in the gym. First Communion will be on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. We ask that all families arrive early on these days.
MAY 10, 2019 – GRADE 7 FUNDRAISING
Thank you for your continued support of our fundraising efforts for our Grade 7 Legacy Gift. The Grade 7 Fundraising Committee will be selling candy bags for $2.00 afterschool on Friday, May 10th.
MAY 13, 2019 – FRIENDSHIP TRACK MEET
The Grades 3-7 classes will attend a Friendship Track Meet. This track meet will take place rain or shine at Mercer Stadium. Please refer to the Track and Field notice for details. Please make sure students are prepared for all weather.
MAY 13, 2019 – CROWNING OF MARY
The Crowning of Mary Mass will be on Monday, May 13th at OLS Church at 6:30 p.m. Procession will follow (weather permitting). Please bring FLOWERS for Mary!
MAY 16, 2019 – OLS WALK-A-THON 12:00 P.M. DISMISSAL – NO AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Thursday, May 16th, will be the annual OLS Walk-a-thon. Please refer to the notice that went home with students. Please note there will be a 12:00 p.m. dismissal on this day and there will be NO AFTER SCHOOL CARE available.
Nominations for our OLS Parish Education Committee are being accepted until Tuesday, May 14th. If you are interested in running for PEC, you must be a good standing member of the Parish Community for a minimum of 2 years. Nomination forms can be found at the School office and school website. Nominations MUST be signed by our Nomination Committee, Mr. Roger Gil, or Mrs. Cidalia Pashalidis and by the Pastor prior to 3p.m. on May 14th to run in the election.
MAY 17, 2019 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be no school for students on Friday, May 17th.
MAY 20, 2019 – VICTORIA DAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be no school on Monday, May 20th.
MAY 22, 2019 – OLS TRACK MEET
The OLS Track Meet for Grades 3-7 is at Swangard Stadium rain or shine. Please refer to the Track and Field notice for details. Please make sure students are prepared for all weather.
MAY 24, 2019 – “GRAY MATTERS” DAY
The Leadership Council has organized this day to promote Brain Cancer Awareness. Students can wear gray on this day and Brain Activities/Games will be played as well. More details will be forthcoming.
MAY 26, 2019 – FAMILY MASS
The Family Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 26th. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass with our OLS School Choir. The OLS Family Mass is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the Sunday liturgy.
MAY 29, 2019 – CISVA TRACK MEET
Please refer to Track and Field notice for details. Please make sure students are dressed for the weather.
MAY 30, 2019 – KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
Kindergarten Orientation for students starting Kindergarten in September 2019 will be on Thursday, May 30th. Please note there is no school for the current Kindergartners.

A friendly reminder: When sending in absentee notes, please ensure you add your child’s first and last name, grade, absence date, and reason for absence. It is very important that an absentee note is sent to school each time your child is away. All absentee notes are to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
SCHOOL FRONT DOOR USE
PLEASE NOTE: All students are to enter the school in the morning through the back door, NOT the front door. The back door remains open until 8:55 a.m. If your child is late (arriving after 9:00 a.m.), only then should they enter through the front door to check in with the office.
Preschool parents are to ONLY USE the preschool door (Turner side) for drop off and pick up.
NO- BLOCKING DRIVEWAYS!!! OR DOUBLE PARKING IN DROP- OFFS
PLEASE DO NOT PARK /BLOCK the Pender or Turner Street Driveways for Pick up/Drop-off or Masses, as we have many deliveries and large truck pick-ups daily! Cars will be ticketed and towed as it is a danger to our students and families trying to navigate through the areas. Thank you for your understanding!
