OLS ANNUAL SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR – RECORD BREAKING YEAR!

Thanks to all the support from the parents and students from preschool to Grade 7, we sold over $10,000! TALE OF THE TAPE FOOD BANK COLLECTION UPDATE

Thank you to all OLS students and parents for your generous food bank donations. We collected a record-breaking 2,159 food items!  The colour team competition ended up as follows:

First Place       –           Red team with 859 items

Second Place   –           Yellow team with 470 items

Third Place      –           Blue team with 433 items

Fourth Place    –           Green team with 397 items

TERRY FOX RUN COLLECTION UPDATE

Thank you to all OLS students and parents for sending in your toonies and donations for the Terry Fox Run. OLS collected $797.60.  Way to go OLS!  Ms. Guzzo and the Grade 6 class.

OCTOBER 1-31, 2017 – READ-A-THON

Please refer to notice that was sent home with students for further details. Reminder, ALL reading records need to be in to teachers by October 31 by 3:00 p.m. to be eligible for prizes.

OCTOBER 2, 2017 – UNIFORMS

Please note October 2 was the start for students to wear regular school uniform.  Summer uniforms are no longer accepted.  Also, please ensure students have all items in good order and that all items of their uniform including proper shoes and sweaters are brought daily.  Gym strip should also be at school during PE Days.

OCTOBER 12, 2017 – EARLY MORNING PEER TUTORING

Early morning peer tutoring will begin Thursday, October 12. Please ensure students and tutors are at school between 8:00 a.m. – 8:10 a.m.  Sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday morning thereafter.

OCTOBER 12, 2017 – PHOTO RE-TAKES

Students who have either not had their photos taken or wish to do a retake may do so on Thursday, October 12.  Please have your child dressed in full uniform on this day.

OCTOBER 18, 2017 – LIVING ROSARY

Living Rosary will take place on Wednesday, October 18 in the afternoon in the school gym. Students are expected to be in full uniform this day.  Reminder if students have gym on this day, they must still bring their gym strip and runners to school.

OCTOBER 20, 2017 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY – NO SCHOOL

There will be a Professional Development Day for OLS staff on Friday, October 20.  There will be no school for students on this day.

OCTOBER 23, 2017 – CONFIRMATION PARENT MEETING 6:30 P.M.

A notice will be sent home with students with further details.

OCTOBER 27, 2017 – ANNUAL HALLOWEEN BASH

Please join us for the OLS 16th Annual Halloween Costume Bash on Friday, October 27.  This year the Halloween Bash will have some changes.  Please read all future notices which will be sent home with students.

OCTOBER 29, 2017 – FAMILY MASS at 11:30 A.M.

The Family Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 29.  We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass with our School Choir.  The OLS Family Mass is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the Sunday liturgy.

OCTOBER 31, 2017 – COLOUR DAY

Students may come to school dressed in Halloween colours (eg. orange and black) on this day. Two dollars will be collected which will go to the Holy Childhood Association.

AGAPE STREET MINISTRY DONATIONS

Once again, we reach out to OLS families for their donations of extra Halloween candy. We will be accepting candy until November 3.  All candy donated will go to AGAPE Street Ministry.
