It has been a wonderful start to the year, and we are excited of the already amazing parent volunteer and participation for our school. As mentioned in the meeting, we appreciate all our parents generosity in volunteering for our students, as all our volunteers help to keep our school running well and help us to offer more to each and every child, including your own! We are resending the Halloween Bash Volunteer form home, as our Halloween Bash is always sold out and such great FUN, and we can use your help! OCTOBER 1, 2018 – UNIFORMS
Please note October 1 is the start of regular school uniform. Summer uniform will no longer be accepted after this date. Also, please ensure that students have all items in good order and bring all items of their uniform including proper shoes and sweaters to school daily. This includes extreme haircuts, colouring and non-standard jewellery. Please refer to the School Policy.
OCTOBER 2, 2018 – PHOTO PACKAGES DUE BACK TO SCHOOL
Photo packages went home with students on September 27. Proofs and portrait payments are due back to the school by October 2.
OCTOBER 3, 2018 – CISVA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP – COMPETITIVE AND FUN RUN
Grades 2-7 will participate at the CISVA Cross Country Championship and fun run at Swangard/Central Park from 10:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Please refer to the notice sent home.
OCTOBER 4, 2018 – TALE OF THE TAPE
The first House Colour challenge of the year “Tale of the Tape” will take place on Thursday, October 4. Bring non-perishable goods to school on Thursday, October 4. Please label these items with your child’s name and house colour (red, yellow, green or blue). Your child will be bringing home a slip with their team colour this week. Items will be weighed, measured and totalled, to determine points for each House Colour Team. The real winner will be our local food bank, where all items will be donated. *Please note students will be reminded of their House Colours as some have changed.
OCTOBER 5, 2018 – MASS GRADE 4 CLASS
Parents/Grandparents are welcome to join the OLS School on Friday, October 5 for the Thanksgiving Mass at 9:00 a.m.
OCTOBER 8, 2018 – THANKSGIVING DAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be no school on Monday, October 8.
OCTOBER 9, 2018 – PHOTO RE-TAKES
Students who have either not had their photos taken or wish to do a retake may do so on Tuesday, October 9. Please have your child dressed in full uniform on this day.
OCTOBER 19, 2018 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be a Professional Development Day for OLS staff on Friday, October 19. There will be no school for students on this day.
OCTOBER 22, 2018 – CONFIRMATION PARENT MEETING 6:30 P.M.

OCTOBER 24, 2018 – LIVING ROSARY
Students are expected to be in full uniform this day.
OCTOBER 26, 2018 – ANNUAL HALLOWEEN BASH
Please join us for the OLS 16th Annual Halloween Costume Bash on Friday, October 26 at
6:00 pm. Last year this event SOLD OUT! This is a family fun school event that will happen in the OLS gym. Early bird tickets are $10 and this includes access to 12 carnival games, dancing and every kid is guaranteed to win a prize or two! Returning this year is The White Spot Food Truck, Ragazzi Pizza, Cash Bar and Concession. Invite family & friends to join the fun! Costumes are recommended. Order forms will be sent home shortly.
OCTOBER 28, 2018 – FAMILY MASS at 11:30 A.M
The Family Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 28. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass with our School Choir. The OLS Family Mass is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the Sunday liturgy.
OCTOBER 31, 2018 – COLOUR DAY
Students may come to school dressed in Halloween colours (eg. orange and black) on this day.
AGAPE STREET MINISTRY DONATIONS
Once again, we reach out to OLS families for their donations of extra Halloween candy. We will be accepting candy until November 5. All candy donated will go to AGAPE Street Ministry.

Just a reminder that the ordering for the hot lunch fall session is now open. Ordering will close on Thursday, October 4 at 5pm. Once the ordering is closed, we cannot accept any other orders. Orders that have not been paid for by October 4 at 5pm will be cancelled. If you are sending cash or cheques, it must be received by October 4 at 3pm so that we can adjust your account by the deadline.
Payments can be made by cheque or cash (dropped off at the office in an envelope with your child’s name on it) or by credit card online. Please note, the school does get charged transaction fees for the credit card payment so if you’d prefer to pay by cheque or cash, which is welcome.
