DROP OFF UPDATE!
As many have noticed this morning the City of Vancouver decided without warning to close Pender Street due to a sewer upgrade in the neighbourhood. We had NO prior knowledge of this sudden change in the street access to the school. Turner Street will be finished soon and Pender Street should reopen tomorrow. We encourage all Parents and Drop-off drivers to give themselves more time and not panic about being late. We will NOT mark any students late until after 9:15 am as to make sure they have arrived. Please feel free to call the City of Vancouver at 311 to discuss their choices for not coordinating the surprise Pender Street closure while upgrades to Turner were being done. A note from a parent was sent home today, and it can also be found on the school website, seeking your support for re-opening the Adanac Street connector. Please feel free to support this cause or let the City know that accessing Vancouver’s North Corridors (Hastings and 1st Avenue) while driving EAST into the City and without any left turn lights until Knight Street is causing late arrivals to school/work. We are doing all we can with the City of Vancouver, however, the more parents act by informing the City of the extreme dangers and chaos of accessing our area, which includes Notre Dame as well, the better improvements may happen in the future. Again there is NO need to walk the kids into the doors from the Slocan Drop-off, as Supervisors are always present in the playground. Thank you for your patience.
