PEC ELECTIONS 2025
We wish to thank our PEC members who will be leaving the school this year, Mrs. Cristina Morra our President, Mr. Roger Gil our Treasurer and Mr. Anthoni Pasqua head of our maintenance crew. They have been long-standing members of our Parish Education Committee who have committed hundreds of hours to improve our school and Parish Communities! Please remember to thank them for their amazing work personally. We will miss their leadership! We, therefore, have three positions to fill. If you are interested in applying for these PEC positions, please fill out the nomination form attached (please thoroughly read the eligibility and expectation requirements). Nomination forms MUST be signed by our nomination committee, Mirella Gargiulo or Sarah Morreau, and returned (fully completed) to the office by Monday, May 12th. All nominations will then be sent to the parish to be approved by Father Rosemond, our Pastor. All nominees must be a parishioner in good standing. If you have any questions, please contact the office. Thank all of our wonderful PEC members for their amazing leadership and service to our parish and school!
STAFF CHANGES 2025
We are sad to announce that two of our longstanding teachers will be leaving the school this year. First, we wish to say goodbye to Mr. Peter Stocker, who has been at OLS for the last 25 years. He originally taught Grade 6 and then started our amazing ADST program. Mr. Stocker will be moving closer to home and working for an on-line format as he approaches his retirement years. We are also saying goodbye to Mr. Basso our Grade 6 Teacher and Vice-Principal. Mr. Basso has been a great teacher, coach of many sports, and leader on staff and in many groups with students. He also will be moving closer to home as he recently purchased a new home in Maple Ridge. We are sad and will miss them both. A more formal goodbye will be announced in June.
OUTDOOR PE CLASSES
Please note that as the gym does get booked for more school and parish activities in the final months, we prefer to have students go outside than stay indoors. This will involve some classes being held off-site. If classes go off-site, they will be bussed during their PE class only and return at their regular times. Please let us know only if you DO NOT WISH your child to participate in off-site PE classes through your child’s classroom Seesaw account, Google Classroom or email the school office. Primary (K-2) will usually stay on site and use alternate areas on school grounds or occasionally go for walks around the school block. Regardless of location, students only need their regular gym strip. All classes are properly supervised, and medical alerts are followed.

WARM WEATHER ALERT
Due to the warmer weather, the children will now be spending more time outside. Therefore, we are asking the following:
- Send your child to school with a refillable water bottle, a hat and, if needed, apply sunscreen before arriving at school.
- The gate to the school parking lot will not be opened until 2:30 p.m. Please do not arrive earlier than 2:30 p.m. to pick-up your child(ren) and wait at the gate as this creates a backlog of traffic and a nuisance for the neighbourhood.
SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 – OLS GOLF TOURNAMENT IS BACK!!
We are excited to be hosting our Second Annual OLS Golf Tournament on Friday, September 5th, at Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club, in Pitt Meadows. This is an important fundraiser for our process of building a new school! We are hoping that families who golf, or families with businesses will join us for a fun day of community and support for our new school fund. Even if you are not a golfer, we are offering hole sponsorships and signs for only $500 per hole (tax receipts will be available). This is a great way to introduce your business to the greater OLS business community! If your business is interested in being a larger corporate sponsor, we can also accommodate your business needs. We have attached the notice for sponsors. You can also sign up online at https://ourladyofsorrows.ca/golf-tournament/, and we can send you or your company a direct invoice. The deadline for our sponsorship holes is Friday, May 30th. Thank you to the many parents and vendors who have already committed, and we hope all our business parents and partners can help support this important Capital Campaign for our New School Building Fund! If you have any questions, please contact the school.
