URGENT REMINDER – Gr. 7 EASTER FUNDRAISERS
For families who have ordered lasagna and cookie kits, pick up is TODAY, Wednesday, April 13th between 2:15 – 3:30 p.m. at the side door of the school gym. We ask parents to please make sure they pick up their lasagnas today as we will not be able to store them properly at the school. Thank you for all your support!!
URGENT NOTICE – PICK-UP & DROP-OFF CHANGE!! PENDER STREET CLOSED!
The City of Vancouver will be working on a broken pipe on Pender Street, all next week. We will be changing the drop-off and pick-up entrance to Turner Street. Parents, please follow the direction of the traffic and give yourself more time to drop-off. ALSO, if you are walking into the lot, please use the Slocan or Pender Street gates only and watch for cars on Turner Street. Preschool parents can enter from the front preschool gate and not the lot. PLEASE DO NOT EXIT YOUR CARS AND ENSURE STUDENTS MOVE QUICKLY TO THE SAFETY CONES, CROSSING IN FRONT OF YOUR CAR ONLY! Please inform all grandparents or other family who pick up as well.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PROTOCOLS
Our COVID protocols have changed into communicable disease protocols to continue to reduce the spread of germs that cause cold and flu like symptoms. Again, we are asking parents to not send kids to school when ill, and to use the allocated free COVID rapid tests (sent home before spring break) to ensure students are not attending school with COVID. The incident of COVID is still going to be rising, however, by continuing to keep sick children home, washing hands, and keeping physical distance between contacts, we should continue to get through this school year with minimal disruptions. Thank you to our parents and families that continue to do all you can to keep our students healthy and safe.
OLS SUMMER CAMPS
OLS Summer Camps are back! If your child is entering Kindergarten – Grade 5 in September 2022 they can come join us for a week or two of lots of fun activities to kick off the summer! Camps will be held at OLS: July 4th – 8th and July 11th – 15th. Full day and half day options are available. Spaces are limited so registration will be first come, first serve. Registration forms will be sent home this week. We hope to see you there!
REMINDERS
APRIL 11 & 12, 2022 CONFESSIONS FOR GRADES 3-7
Classes will be informed this week about their individual class times for Confessions. Students can continue to practice their Act of Contrition at home.
APRIL 14, 2022 – STATIONS OF THE CROSS
All parents are invited to join the students and staff of OLS for the Stations of the Cross. It will be performed by the Grade 7 class from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Gym. All students should be in FULL UNIFORM. (Proper Black Shoes and sweaters) the Parking lot will be open after recess. 10:45am). Please observe spacing, and masks are optional.

All boxes will be collected after Easter Monday, Tuesday, April 19th. We ask that ALL students label their box with their name and house colour. We also ask that you print the amount collected on the box. Please use this opportunity to encourage your child to give alms (to do charitable work).
APRIL 20-25, 2022 – SILENT AUCTION
Our 2nd annual silent auction is coming…. keep calm and start bidding!
The event will take place for 5 days only beginning on Wednesday, April 20th. Bidding will close on Monday, April 25th at 8:30 p.m. We have tons of packages to bid on. Please mark your calendars. The link will be sent out closer to the event.
APRIL 21, 2022 – CLASS PHOTO DAY
Please make sure students come to school dressed in full uniform.
APRIL 22, 2022 – EARTH DAY – COLOUR DAY
Dress down in earth colour tones on Friday, April 22nd. Those children having gym class on this day are still required to wear gym strip under their clothes.
APRIL 24, 2022 – FAMILY MASS
The Family Mass will held be on Sunday, April 24th at 11:30 a.m. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass. This is a wonderful way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy
APRIL 26 & 28, 2022 – LICE CHECKS
The next school-wide lice check will be conducted on Tuesday, April 26th and Thursday, April 28th. Thank you to Mrs. Kraljevic for doing this once again.
MAY 3 & 4, 2022 – TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS
We will be hosting a talent show this year in June (date TBD)! The talent show is open to all students. Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 3rd, and Wednesday May 4th at 12:00 p.m. Please see the notice that is being sent home today for further details.

OUR LADY OF SORROWS PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION
Preschool registration for the 2022-2023 school year is now open. If you are interested in registering for either the Three-Year-Old Program or the Four-Year-Old Program, contact the school office for an application form.

AFTERSCHOOL PICKUP
Due to the warmer weather, the children will now be spending more time outside. Therefore, the gate to the school parking lot will not be opened until 2:30 p.m. Please do not arrive earlier than 2:30 p.m. to pick up your child(ren) and wait at the gate as this creates a backlog of traffic and a nuisance for the neighbourhood.
