Dear Parents,
As mentioned by Doctor Bonnie Henry during yesterday’s update, the vaccine mandates have been lifted in some areas. There are no more indoor mask restrictions (masks will continue to be optional for indoor spaces, including schools). Faith services have now returned to 100% capacity. Our COVID protocols have changed into communicable disease protocols to continue to reduce the spread of germs that cause cold and flu like symptoms. Again, we are asking parents to not send kids to school when ill, and to use the allocated free COVID rapid tests (sent home before spring break) to ensure students are not attending school with COVID. The incident of COVID is still going to be rising, however, by continuing to keep sick children home, washing hands, and keeping physical distance between contacts, we should continue to get through this school year with minimal disruptions.

APRIL 8, 2022 – IMPORTANT GRADE 7 FUNDRAISING UPDATE – PURDY’S CHOCOLATES PICK-UP DATE CHANGED!
For those families who ordered Purdy’s Chocolates, the pick-up date has been changed to Friday, April 8th. Orders will be ready for pick-up between 2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. at the kitchen door of the gym. Thank you again for all your support!

Classes will be informed this week about their individual class times for Confessions. Students can continue to practice their Act of Contrition at home.

The Stations of the Cross will be performed by the Grade 7 class from 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. in the Gym. All students should be in FULL UNIFORM.

APRIL 19, 2022 – LENTEN BOXES
All boxes will be collected after Easter Monday, Tuesday, April 19th. We ask that ALL students label their box with their name and house colour. We also ask that you print the amount collected on the box. Please use this opportunity to encourage your child to give alms (to do charitable work).
APRIL 20-25, 2022 – SILENT AUCTION
Our 2nd annual silent auction is coming….keep calm and start bidding!
The event will take place for 5 days only beginning on Wednesday, April 20th. Bidding will close on Monday, April 25th at 8:30 p.m. We have tons of packages to bid on. Please mark your calendars. The link will be sent out closer to the event.

Please make sure students come to school dressed in full uniform.
APRIL 22, 2022 – EARTH DAY – COLOUR DAY
Dress down in earth colour tones on Friday, April 22nd . Those children having gym class on this day are still required to wear gym strip under their clothes.
APRIL 24, 2022 – FAMILY MASS
The Family Mass will held be on Sunday, April 24th at 11:30 a.m. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass. This is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy
APRIL 26 & 28, 2022 – LICE CHECKS
The next school-wide lice check will be conducted on Tuesday, April 26th and Thursday, April 28th . Thank you to Mrs. Kraljevic for doing this once again.
MAY 3 & 4, 2022 – TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS
We will be hosting a talent show this year in June (date TBD)! The talent show is open to all students. Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 3rd and Wednesday May 4th at 12:00 p.m. Please see the notice that is being sent home today for further details.

REMINDERS
OUR LADY OF SORROWS PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION
Preschool registration for the 2022-2023 school year is now open. If you are interested in registering for either the Three Year Old Program or the Four Year Old Program, contact the school office for an application form.

AFTERSCHOOL PICKUP
Due to the warmer weather, the children will now be spending more time outside. Therefore, the gate to the school parking lot will not be opened until 2:30 p.m. Please do not arrive earlier than 2:30 p.m. to pick up your child(ren) and wait at the gate as this creates a backlog of traffic and a nuisance for the neighbourhood.
