December 1, 2, 3 – 2020 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
This week marks the first week of Advent and the last 3 weeks before our Christmas break. You have all done so well at keeping our school community safe! We must continue to do our daily health screens and continue to wear masks in public spaces. Our initial goal was to get to Christmas Break healthy and we are only 3 weeks away! Thank you for continuing to follow our safety protocols! Let’s pray we can all continue to keep each other safe as we go into this Advent season with renewed Hope, Love for God and each other, and the Joy and Peace of Jesus Christ.
ADVENT PARALITURGIES
Our first Advent Paraliturgy took place on Monday, November 30th in our individual classroom cohorts. Please see our December calendar for all other grades. Due to the new Mass restrictions, there will be no confessions for students at this time. All weekly Paraliturgies can be found on our OLS Videos page. Teachers will post their class Paraliturgies on Seesaw once they are recorded.
DECEMBER 2, 2020 – VIRTUAL PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE
Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd. Each conference will be 10 minutes long. Please refer to the notice sent home with your child for your conference time. All phone calls will be to either the mother’s or father’s cell phone number, please email or message your class teacher prior to Wednesday to advise which number is best! Please remember there will be no school on Wednesday, December 2nd for students.
GRADE 7 FUNDRAISING UPDATES
Holiday Mini Photo Session information was emailed last week. Due to the popular response, we have added another date, Sunday, December 6th. Please email linadeco@telus.net if you would like to book a spot. There will also be a Christmas raffle, information coming soon.

DECEMBER 17, 2020 – VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Our virtual Christmas Concert will take place on Thursday, December 17th. We will not be live streaming this event, but the video will be made available on our OLS Video page after the event.
DECEMBER 18, 2020 – GREEN/RED COLOUR DAY $2
Students donating $2 on this day towards Holy Childhood Association, may dress in green, red or other Christmas colours.
DECEMBER 18, 2020 – 12:00 P.M. DISMISSAL
Friday, December 18th is the last day of school before Christmas vacation. Dismissal is at 12:00 p.m. There will be NO AFTER SCHOOL CLUB on this day.
PARISH MASSES
Please visit our Parish Website: www.olos.ca for the live Masses and updates. In this incredibly difficult time for many of us, our Parish, Father Richard, Father Testamar, and our Religious Sisters, do a wonderful job of providing us with hope and remind us that we are not alone; Jesus is with us. Masses as a family are a wonderful way to keep connected as a family and watch and pray together virtually. As they are taped on YouTube you can rewatch at anytime.

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish – PAD Agreement
Last week Father Richard sent home, attached to your Parish Envelopes, a letter explaining how you can still support the parish during these difficult COVID times. There are now added ways to do that. Many are already using these virtual services. The parish is allowing automatic debit at the request of our parents (PAD Agreement) as well. If you wish to add the PAD method, please return the form to the school or parish office. Thank you for your continued support of our Parish!
