JANUARY 9 & 11, 2024 – DOWNHILL SKIING
The Grade 7 class will begin their Downhill skiing lessons on Tuesday, January 9th and Thursday, January 11th. Please refer to the information package sent home from Mr. McCloskey. Please note it is very important that the students are dressed appropriately for this event.
JANUARY 12, 2024 – DRIVE THRU RECYCLE FUNDRAISER – BOTTLE DRIVE
The last day of our annual ‘Drive Thru’ Recycle Fundraiser is happening on Friday, January 12th during morning drop off. Bags can be dropped off behind the garage of OLS Parish in the school parking lot.
This will be a House Colour Challenge. Please ensure you mark your bags with the student’s house colour. May the best team win!
JANUARY 15, 2024 – LEADERSHIP COUNCIL MASS
Parents/grandparents are welcome to join the OLS School on Monday, January 15th at 9:00 a.m. for Mass.
JANUARY 19, 2024 – ARCHBISHOP VISIT
We are excited and pleased to announce that Archbishop Michael Miller will be visiting our school and parish starting on Friday, January 19th. He will be meeting with parish and school staff as well as visiting the classrooms. The Archbishop will also be celebrating the weekend masses on Friday January 19th at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, January 20th at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m. (different time). Archbishop Miller will be available after these masses to meet our families! We hope our families and children will attend these Masses, as it would be a great showing of our amazing OLS Faith Community!!

JANUARY 18 & 24, 2024 – NOTRE DAME OPEN HOUSE & PLACEMENT EXAM FOR GRADE 8
Notre Dame Regional High School will be having an open house on Thursday, January 18th at 5:30 p.m. in the Alumni Hall. The Placement Exam will take place on Wednesday, January 24th at 12:30 p.m. We recommend checking the school’s website to confirm times www.ndrs.org.
JANUARY 26, 2024 – CROSS COUNTRY SKIING.
The Grade 6 class will begin their Cross-Country skiing lessons on Friday, January 26th. Please refer to the information package sent home from Mr. McCloskey. Please note it is very important that the students are dressed appropriately for this event. The Friday, January 19th Cross Country date will be rescheduled for a later date due to the Archbishop’s visit.
JANUARY 23, 2024 – FIRST COMMUNION PARENTS’ MEETING
There will be a First Communion Parent Meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the lower hall. This meeting is for parents only and at least one parent from each family must attend.
JANUARY 24 AND 25, 2024 – LICE CHECK
With the colder and wetter weather upon us the students are indoors more often. We would like to remind you to continue checking for lice at home on a weekly basis. The next school-wide lice check will be conducted on Wednesday, January 24th and Thursday, January 25th. Thank you to Mrs. Kraljevic for doing this once again.
JANUARY 28, 2024 – FAMILY & FIRST COMMUNION ENROLMENT MASS
All students in Grade 2 who will be receiving the Sacrament of First Communion will be required to attend this Mass on Sunday, January 28th at 11:30 a.m. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate this Mass. We again will have our Students reading during all Family Masses as well as our amazing children’s choir! The Monthly Family Mass is a wonderful way for our families and students to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy.

Sunday envelopes are now ready for pickup at the church entrance. You must pick up your new envelopes as all envelopes have new numbers.
KINDERGARTEN 2024-2025 REGISTRATION
Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year for OLS Parishioners is now complete. If you know of any families with children born in the year 2019 who would like to register for our Kindergarten class, please forward them the attached New Student Pre-Registration Request Form, as parent interviews will be held in January. PRESCHOOL 2024-2025 REGISTRATION
We are accepting applications for 3 and 4 year old preschool. If you have a child born in the year 2020 or 2021, please complete and return the attached Preschool New Student Pre-Registration Request Form.
FEDERATION OF LASER MASTER – TERM 2 ENROLMENT
Laser Master will once again be offered after school at OLS for students in Grades 1-7. Classes will be held on Fridays after school from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. The start date is Friday, January 12th and the term end-date is Friday, March 8th. WEATHER AND TRAFFIC UPDATE
As the weather gets colder and rainier, we are asking parents to ensure students come to school wearing proper jackets (with hoods) and appropriate shoes. Please do NOT send students who have gym in the morning wearing only their PE strip! They should be wearing their OLS sweatpants and sweatshirt over their PE strip. Students MUST stay outside until 8:35 a.m. as we must ensure adequate supervision at school while teachers are in staff prayer. Also, students may have to be outside throughout the day for recess or movement between the buildings (Gym and Church) as well as be able to stand in the rain for a minimum of 5 minutes if there is a fire or earthquake drill. Also, Please remember to slow down in the drop-off zones as students can be walking between cars are not easily seen in the winter. Thank you!
