PEC NEWS!!
Congratulations to Mirella Gargiulo and Anthoni Pasqua for returning to our PEC, and welcome to our new members Sarah Morreau and Celina Vergel de Dios! Our PEC is a vital part of our school and again we wish to thank them for their continued support and service to our school! LIBRARY NEWS
The last book check out is Friday, May 31st. All library books MUST be returned by Thursday, June 6th! Families with outstanding books will be notified by letter. Please try to locate the missing books as they are expensive to replace.
MAY 24, 2024 – GRADE 7 FREEZIE FRIDAY
The Grade 7 class will be selling freezies for a toonie afterschool on Friday’s. Please see the attached flyer for details.
MAY 26, 2024 – FAMILY MASS
The Family Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 26th. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass. This Family Mass will be hosted by our Grade 3 students! The OLS Family Mass is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy.
MAY 27, 2024 – OLS TRACK MEET
Please refer to the Track and Field notice for details. Track meets are always rain or shine, so please make sure students are prepared for all weather.
MAY 29, 2024 – CROWNING OF MARY- NEW DATE!!
The Crowning of Mary Mass will now be on WEDNESDAY at OLS Church starting at 6:30 p.m. All students are invited to attend and are asked to bring flowers for Mary!

JUNE 23,2024 – FAMILY THANKSGIVING MASS
Our final School Family Mass for the year is at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 23rd, hosted by our Grade 1 students! Our school choir will also be singing this day. We will be hosting a Family BBQ after the 11:30 a.m. Family Mass and the 1:00 p.m. Spanish Mass. Our parents will host the BBQ and there will be games for the kids in the hall. All Choir, Altar Servers, and Readers will receive a free sausage and bun, chips, and a drink as a thank you for all their service for the year. Any parents who still need their participation hours for the year, please contact our office or our PEC participation coordinator. More info to follow!

MAY 24, 2024 – FAREWELL MASS FOR OLS CARMELITE SISTERS
Archbishop Miller, together with our parish priests will be celebrating a farewell Mass at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24th for the Carmelite Sisters. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate this Mass.
OLS GOLF TOURNAMENT!!
We are excited to be hosting our First Annual OLS Golf Tournament on Friday, September 6th, 2024, at Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club, in Pitt Meadows. This is an important start for our process of building a new school! We are hoping that families who golf, or families with businesses will join us for a fun day of community and support for our new school fund. Even if you are not a golfer; we are offering hole sponsorships and signs for only $500 per hole (tax receipts will be available). This is a great way to introduce your business to the greater OLS business community! If your business is interested in being a larger corporate sponsor, we can also accommodate your business needs. We have attached the notice for sponsors. You can also sign up online at https://ourladyofsorrows.ca/golf-tournament/, and we can send you or your company a direct invoice. The deadline for our sponsorship holes is May 31st. Thank you to the many parents and vendors who have already committed, and we hope all our business parents and partners can help support this important Capital Campaign for our New School Building Fund! SCHOOL SUPPLIES (GR. 3 – 7) – SCHOOL START
All children in Gr. 3 – 7 brought home a list of supplies this week that will be required on the first day of school in September. Please follow the notice instructions for ordering. If paying by cheque, return your order form together with your cheque, made payable to ‘School Start’ by Monday, June 3rd. After Monday, June 3rd, you will have to place your order online or by telephone and pay by credit card by Wednesday, July 31st to receive your supplies by September.

MCCARTHY UNIFORMS BUNDLE SAVINGS
Every year McCarthy Uniforms offers bundle savings to our school community. These bundles offer an additional coupon incentive that can be used later in the year to top up student’s uniforms. Please see the attached bundle flyer for further details. Uniforms should be examined and replaced as needed due to children outgrowing them or regular wear and tear.
AFTERSCHOOL PICK-UP
Due to the warmer weather, the children will now be spending more time outside. Therefore, the gate to the school parking lot will not be opened until 2:30 p.m. Please do not arrive earlier than 2:30 p.m. to pick-up your child(ren) and wait at the gate as this creates a backlog of traffic and a nuisance for the neighbourhood.
