HALLOWEEN BASH 2024 – WHAT A PARTY!
A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers that made this night possible; supervising games, running the fundraising booths, and ensuring it was a truly epic event. In addition, Thank you to the Fundraising Committee and everyone who helped plan, set up, donated a prize or food item, worked the event and cleaned up. We can not host these community events without the support of all our parents!

THE GRADE 7 HOT LUNCH PROGRAM IS BACK – ORDERING DEADLINE NOVEMBER 1ST!
Ordering for the 2024/2025 Grade 7 hot lunch program is now open and will close on Friday, November 1st at 3 p.m. Once the ordering is closed, we cannot accept any other orders. Orders that have not been paid for by November 1st at 3 p.m. may be cancelled. If you are paying by cash or cheque, it must be received by November 1st at 3 p.m. so that we can adjust your account. Payments can be made by cheque or cash (dropped off at the office in an envelope with your child’s name and grade on it) or by credit card online. Please note, the school is charged transaction fees for credit card payments so if you would prefer to pay by cheque or cash, it would be greatly appreciated.
This ordering period will be from Tuesday, November 5th to Tuesday, June 10th. All lunches in this session must be ordered by the November 1st at 3 p.m. deadline.

OCTOBER 31, 2024 – HALLOWEEN COLOUR / COSTUME DAY
Students may dress down (e.g., orange, and black) or come in costume on Thursday, October 31st. More information will be provided soon.
NOVEMBER 1, 2024 – GRADE 7 ALL SAINTS’ DAY MASS
All Saints Mass will be held on Friday, November 1st at 9:00 a.m. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us. Full uniform is required (black shoes and sweaters required).
NOVEMBER 1, 2024 – READ-A-THON RECORDS DUE
ALL reading records are now due.
NOVEMBER 1 – 7, 2024 – AGAPE STREET MINISTRY DONATIONS
Once again, we reach out to OLS families for their donations of extra Halloween candy. We will be accepting candy until Thursday, November 7th. All candy donated will go to AGAPE Street Ministry.
NOVEMBER 2, 2024 – DAY LIGHT SAVINGS ENDS
Remember to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday, November 2nd .
NOVEMBER 4 – 7, 2024 – REMEMBRANCE DAY POPPY DONATION
Students from Grade 6 will be going to classrooms to collect a $1 minimum donation for poppies from November 4th to 7th.
NOVEMBER 5, 2024 – PARKING LOT CLOSED FOR MORNING DROP-OFF
The school parking lot will be closed during morning drop-off on Tuesday, November 5th for city work. Drop-off will take place at the Turner street entrance and at the front of the school. Please follow the directions of our parking attendants. The parking lot will be reopened as normal for afternoon pick up.
NOVEMBER 5, 2024 – CONFIRMATION PARENT MEETING AT 7:00 P.M.
A notice will be sent home with students with further details.
NOVEMBER 5 AND 6, 2024 – HEAD LICE CHECKS
The next school-wide lice checks will be conducted on Tuesday, November 5th and Wednesday, November 6th. Thank you to Mrs. Pia Fasan for doing this.
NOVEMBER 7, 2024 – REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE
All parents/grandparents are welcome to join the OLS staff and students at a Remembrance Day Service to be held on Thursday, November 7th at 10:45 a.m. in the school gym. Students must bring their gym strip and runners to school on this day if they have gym class.
NOVEMBER 8, 2024 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be a Professional Development Day for OLS teachers on Friday, November 8th; therefore, there will be no school for students on this day.
NOVEMBER 11, 2024 – REMEMBRANCE DAY STAT HOLIDAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be no school on Monday, November 1st, as it is the Remembrance Day Stat Holiday.
NOVEMBER 14, 2024 – READ-A-THON PLEDGES DUE
Read-a-thon reading records are due by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1st. All Read-a-thon pledges are due on Thursday, November 14th.
NOVEMBER 21, 2024 – GRADE 6 ANNUAL BAKE SALE
The Annual Grade 6 Bake Sale will take place on Thursday, November 21st. This year each bag will be $2.00.
NOVEMBER 22, 2024 – CISVA NETWORKING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be a Professional Development Day for CISVA teachers on Friday, November 22nd ; therefore, there will be no school for students on this day.
NOVEMBER 24, 2024 – FAMILY & GR. 7 CONFIRMATION ENROLMENT MASS
All students in Grade 7 who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation will be required to attend this Mass on Sunday, November 24th at 11:30 a.m. This Mass will be led by our Grade 7 students! Please continue to support our family Masses and join our Knights of Columbus for our Pancake Breakfast following the Mass. There is no charge for students.
NOVEMBER 29, 2024 – REPORT CARDS TO BE SENT HOME
Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, November 29th.
DECEMBER 4, 2024 – PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES – NO SCHOOL
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, December 4th . More information will be sent home soon. Please remember there will be no school on this day for students.

KINDERGARTEN 2025 SIBLING REGISTRATION FORM
A Kindergarten sibling registration form will be sent home with students this week. If you have a child born in 2020 (sibling only), please complete the form and return to the school office by Wednesday, November 13th. In order to secure your child a spot, this form must be returned by the due date. If we do not receive this form, and we have completed the registration process, your child will not have a spot for the September 2025 Kindergarten class. Please contact the school office if you did not receive one.
REMINDERS
WEATHER UPDATE
As the weather gets colder and rainier, we are asking parents to ensure students come to school wearing proper jackets (with hoods) and appropriate shoes. Please do NOT send students who have gym in the morning wearing only PE strip! Students MUST stay outside until 8:35 a.m. as we must ensure adequate supervision at school while teachers are in staff prayer. Also, students may have to be outside throughout the day for recess or movement between the buildings (Gym and Church) as well as be able to stay in the rain for a minimum of 5 minutes if there is a fire or earthquake drill.

NOVEMBER 3, 2024 – OLS PARISH CRAFT FAIR
There will be food, games, crafts, jewellery, baking, clothing, and raffle prizes. There will be something for the whole family! Make sure to come by after Mass on Sunday, November 3rd between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
