Dear Parents,

MORNING DROP-OFF

During morning drop-off, we are asking all parents to stay in their vehicles, stick to the right hand side of the cones, line up at the stop sign and not at the school doors and always follow the directions of our volunteer parking attendants. Thank you for remembering that these parents are volunteers and to always be kind!

WEATHER UPDATE!

As the weather gets colder and rainier, we are asking parents to ensure students come to school wearing proper jackets (with hoods) and appropriate shoes. Please do NOT send students who have gym in the morning wearing only PE strip! Students MUST stay outside until 8:35 a.m. as we must ensure adequate supervision at school while teachers are in staff prayer. Also, students may have to be outside throughout the day for recess or movement between the buildings (Gym and Church) as well as be able to stay in the rain for a minimum of 5 minutes if there is a fire or earthquake drill.

REGULAR UNIFORM NOW IN EFFECT

Regular school uniform is now in effect. Summer uniform will no longer be accepted. We ask that you ensure students have all items in good order and wear their proper uniform including shoes and sweaters to school daily. Also, please refer to our Uniform Policy, which is located in your child’s school agenda, for compliance for Hair, Nails or Jewellery. The agenda is also located on our website’s homepage under ‘Documents and Procedures.’ The goal of a Uniform is to ensure all students are not a distraction and are ready to learn. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

*Sweaters are mandatory for all school functions such as Masses, School Assemblies, Para liturgies, and outings when representing the school.

ARTONA PHOTO’S UPDATE

Your child’s photo is now available online! On photo day, your child brought home a notice from Artona with a QR code for ordering online. If you have any questions about ordering, please contact Artona at https://www.artona.com/contact-us or by telephone: 604-872-7272.

If you are not happy with your child’s photo or missed photo day, photo retake day will be on Thursday, October 24th.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR UPDATE

A huge thank you to all parents and staff for making the Scholastic Book Fair a big success this year. We especially thank all the parent helpers who came out to work shifts at the desk as well as helped the younger grades write their wish lists. We sold over $9,000 of books and accessories which means we have almost half of that as points to buy books for the school and class libraries. We’ve already bought $1,500 of new books and students had a chance to help pick the new books that will be circulated in the library. We are excited to introduce a new young adult fiction section for grades 6 and 7.  We couldn’t do this without all the help of the library volunteers. So a big shout out to them as well. With gratitude, Ms. Guzzo and Mrs. Bortignon.

OCTOBER 1-31, 2024 – READ-A-THON

The Read-a-Thon has begun. For further details please refer to the notice that has been sent home with students. Reminder, ALL reading records need to be handed in by November 1st at 3:00 p.m. to be eligible for prizes.

Last year, we raised over 3,000 individual items to be given to the needy. Items will be weighed, measured, and totalled, to determine points for each House Colour Team. May the best team win!

Items that can be donated:

  • Canned Items (Tuna, Salmon, Sardines, Meat, Fruit/Vegetables, Sauce, Beans)
  • Dried Food (Rice, Beans, Chickpeas, Lentils)
  • Breakfast Items (Cereal, Coffee, Tea, Cookies, Sweets)
  • Baking (Sugar, Cooking Oil)

We ask that all donated items be non-perishable, small, unopened, and not expired. Please avoid items that can be damaged easily such as glass.

We thank you in advance for your generous donations.
