Friday, September 6th, was our first ever OLS Golf Tournament at Swaneset Golf Course in Pitt Meadows. It was an amazing day of golf and community, with our generous golfers and sponsors supporting our New School. Many of our families golfed and many of our families sponsored the holes for the tournament as well. We wish to thank Cavallo Industries as our Title Sponsor, Kern Building Solutions as our Cart Sponsor, OTIVO Developments and the Knights of Columbus as our Golfer Experience Sponsors, Reliance Insurance Agencies as our Hole In One – $10,000 Sponsor, PLUS the many Gold, Silver, and Food and Drink Hole Sponsors! SEPTEMBER 12, 2024 – OUR LADY OF SORROWS SCHOOL LED ROSARY AND MASS – 6:30 P.M.
Our school has been invited to the Feast Mass which will be held on Thursday, September 12th, at 6:30 p.m. This will replace the usual Procession. OLS students will be leading the Rosary and the readings at the Mass to follow. We need at least 67 students to have a candle vigil for our Patroness Our Lady of Sorrows. Please notify your classroom teachers by tomorrow am if you can attend! Thank you!
MORNING CARE and AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Morning Care and After School Club have now started. If you are interested in registering your child(ren) please contact the office by email (office@myolosschool.com). Registration is based on a first come first serve basis as we have limited spots.
OLS BAND PROGRAM!!
As discussed in the meeting held earlier this week, the OLS Band Program for Grades 6 and 7 students starts on Monday, September 16, in the lower hall.

FEDERATION OF LASER MASTER – TERM 1 ENROLMENT
Laser Master will once again be offered after school at OLS for students in Grades 1-7. Classes will be held on Fridays after school from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. The start date is Friday, September 20th and the term end-date is Friday, December 6th (there will be no class on Friday, November 22nd). SEPTEMBER 14, 2024 – OLS PARISH GALA
Tickets to the Our Lady of Sorrows Gala on Saturday, September 14th are sold out!
Thank you for supporting our OLS Capital Campaigns! All proceeds from the Gala, and our First Annual Golf tournament are going directly to our NEW SCHOOL FUND! SEPTEMBER 20, 2024 – BOOK FAIR AND READ-A-THON ASSEMBLY
Our Read-a-Thon and Book Fair assembly will take place on Friday, September 20th. We will be sending home our Parent Volunteer Signup Form. Please check your child’s bags for this information and please help to make our Book Fair and Read-A-Thon another great success!!
SEPTEMBER 20, 2024 – TERRY FOX RUN
Mr. Crozier will be sending home our annual Terry Fox Run letter. This year’s run will take place on Friday, September 20th. We ask that all students give a minimum donation of $2.00 on this day. Thank you for your support of this great and historic event for Cancer Research.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2024 – COMMISSIONING SUNDAY MASS
On Sunday, September 22nd at 11:30 a.m., there will be a Commissioning Mass for all Staff Members of Our Lady of Sorrows School. This will be our first Choir Mass as well. All families are encouraged to attend our regular Sunday Family Masses as their regular obligations to our Catholic School Community. Thank you!
SEPTEMBER 23, 2024 – INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS
Students will have their Individual Photos taken by Artona on Monday, September 23rd. Please ensure your child comes to school in full uniform on this day. They must also have their gym strip under their uniform if there is gym that day.
SEPTEMBER 23 – 27, 2024 – SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
The annual OLS Book Fair will begin on Monday, September 23rd and will end on Friday, September 27th. Further information will be sent home with students shortly.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2024 – MEET THE TEACHERS NIGHT
The first Mandatory Parents’ Meeting will be held in person on Thursday, September 26th. We will begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by one 15-minute session in the classroom. Please mark your calendars. This will be the first Mandatory Meeting as indicated in the Policy Manual and Registration Guide! Do not forget to visit the Book Fair in the Library that evening. Coffee, water and snacks will be provided!
SEPTEMBER 26, 2024 – SWEATPANTS AND SWEATSHIRT SAMPLE SIZES VIEWING & ORDERS
We will be placing an order for sweatpants and sweatshirts at the beginning of October. If you are interested, please complete and return the attached form by Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
Samples sizes will be available for you to view on Wednesday, September 26th before the meeting begins.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2024 – USED UNIFORM SALE
We will be hosting a used uniform sale on Wednesday, September 26th during the Welcome Back BBQ. Please see the attached flyer for further details and instructions.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2024 – ORANGE SHIRT DAY
Orange Shirt Day will be held on Friday, September 27th. This day is to honour Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools in Canada. Orange Shirt Day challenges us to witness and honour the stories of survivors and their families, and to commit to meaningful discussion and the ongoing process of reconciliation.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 – NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION – STAT HOLIDAY
There will be no school on Monday, September 30th. This day is to honour Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools in Canada.
