URGENT SAFETY CONCERN – AFTERSCHOOL PICKUP
We are asking that all students immediately vacate the school and church grounds upon pickup afterschool. This means no playing in the parking lot, between the school and the church, or on the front grass of the school or the church. Students must be supervised at all times and not left unattended. We have had reports of strangers lingering in the neighbourhood. If you would like your child(ren) to play and remain on school grounds afterschool, they can be registered for After School Club.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2025 – MEET THE TEACHERS NIGHT – NO STUDENTS PLEASE!
The first Mandatory Parents’ Meeting will be held in person on Thursday, September 25th. The meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by one 15 minute session in the classroom. Please mark your calendars. This will be the first Mandatory Meeting as indicated in the Policy Manual and Registration Guide! Do not forget to visit the Book Fair in the Library that evening. This meeting is only for parents. No students, please!
SEPTEMBER 22 – 26, 2025 – SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
The annual OLS Book Fair began on Monday, September 22nd and will end on Friday, September 26th. Thank you to all parents who have sent in a volunteer form. Parent Volunteer time slots have been sent home.
2025 – 2026 FALL/WINTER HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Ordering for the fall/winter hot lunch program opened on Monday, September 22nd and will close on Friday, September 26th at 3 p.m. Once the ordering is closed, we cannot accept any other orders. Orders that have not been paid for by September 26th at 3 p.m. may be cancelled. If you are paying by cash or cheque, it must be received by September 26th at 3 p.m. so that we can adjust your account. Payments can be made by cheque or cash (dropped off at the office in an envelope with your child’s name and grade on it) or by credit card online. Please note, the school is charged transaction fees for credit card payments so if you would prefer to pay by cheque or cash, it would be appreciated.
This ordering period will be for the regular hot lunches from Thursday, October 2nd to Thursday, February 5th. All lunches in this session must be ordered by the September 26th at 3 p.m. deadline.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2025 – USED UNIFORM SALE
We will be hosting a used uniform sale on Thursday, September 25th prior to the meeting. Please see the attached flyer for further details and instructions.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2025 – INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS
Students will have their Individual Photos taken by Artona on Friday, September 26th. Please ensure your child comes to school in full uniform on this day. They must also have their gym strip under their uniform if there is gym that day.
SEPTEMBER 28, 2025 – FAMILY MASS (GR. 5)
The Family Mass, hosted by our Gr. 5 class, will be held on Sunday, September 28th at 11:30 a.m. This will be our first Choir Mass. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass. This is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy.
SEPTEMBER 29, 2025 – ORANGE SHIRT DAY
Orange Shirt Day will be held on Monday, September 29th. This day is to honour Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools in Canada. Orange Shirt Day challenges us to witness and honour the stories of Survivors and their families, and to commit to meaningful discussion and the ongoing process of reconciliation.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2025 – NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION – STAT HOLIDAY
There will be no school on Tuesday, September 30th. This day is to honour Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools in Canada.
REMINDERS
ITALIAN LANGUAGE CLASSES FOR GRADES 3-7 – UPDATED REGISTRATION FORM
The Italian Cultural Centre will once again be offering Italian classes for students in Grades 3-7 on Fridays from 2:45 – 4:45 p.m. from October 3rd – December 12th. There will be 8 classes in total with no classes on October 24th, 31st and November 21st. If you are interested, please see the newly updated attached flyer with updated contact and payment information. If you have any questions, please call the Italian Centre directly at 604-430-3337 ext. 223. Please note that this program will only run if the minimum registration requirement is met.
Students enrolled in Italian classes will be dismissed from the school’s front door.
SWEATPANTS AND SWEATSHIRT ORDERS
We will be placing an order for sweatpants and sweatshirts at the beginning of October. Order forms were sent home last week. If you are interested and did not receive an order form, please complete and return the attached by Friday, October 3rd. Sample sizes will be available for you to view on Thursday, September 25th prior to our first Mandatory Parent Meeting.
