COVID UPDATE
As Dr. Bonnie Henry’s last provincial health update, the Provincial Mask Mandate has been extended indefinitely. https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2021HLTH0190-002077
We are continuing to follow all provincial orders as the COVID cases continue to rise. https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2021HLTH0069-002092. We wish to thank our parents for continuing to follow 5 basic steps for COVID SAFETY and keeping each other safe!
- Not attend school if ill (cough, colds, fever)
- Wash hands frequently.
- Wear a mask indoors
- Respect individuals’ personal space, and practice safe distancing
- Continue to support each other by being kind and respecting each other’s needs for safety.
Again, we are asking ALL parents to refrain from arguing with each other on the parking lot or in group chats to convince those people of opposing opinions who is right and wrong. We as an Independent school who receive Government funds, (50% Provincial Government plus 50% Tuitions) must follow all public health orders and will not enter parent debates. There will be some children exempt from masking in each class, as well as those with compromised immune systems. We are always aware of trying to include all students in all activities safely, while continuing to respect the needs of those who may need more protection. We are doing all we can in these tense and difficult times to keep our students safe, happy and learning. We continue to ask for your patience and kindness when speaking with the staff and communicating your child’s specific needs. Thank you to our majority of parents for modeling proper Christian responses for each other and our students. May God continue to keep us all healthy and safe!

REMINDERS
NEW NOTIFICATION METHOD FOR ABSENTEES & LATE NOTICES
If your child is going to be absent or late, our two preferred methods of notification are as follows:
- visit our website (https://ourladyofsorrows.ca/lates-absences/) and fill in all the requested information. Please note the new top tap ‘LATES & ABSENCES’; or
- email us at office@myolosschool.com.
If you do not complete one of the options above, upon your child’s return to school, you must send a note to the classroom teacher explaining the reason for the absence. Please ensure you include all dates absent. If you have more than one child, we require a separate note for each one. This information is required for our annual Attendance Audit which determines our government funding for the year.
UNIFORMS
Please read the Policy Manual, which is included in the students’ Agendas. See page 5, item #5. Teachers will be starting uniform checks by next week. Please ensure all uniform items comply with the Uniform Policy. As of October 1st, your child was required to come school in regular (not summer) uniform.
Please Note: Sweaters or vests are mandatory for all school functions such as Masses, School Assemblies, Para-liturgies, and Fieldtrips when representing the school.
NEIGHBOURHOOD PARKING
Please be kind and respect all local parking and road speed signs for the safety of the children! Out of respect for our neighbours, DO NOT park in front of their houses or block driveways.
Especially, do not backup or drive the wrong way in drop-off zones. Please leave enough distance between cars!
