Congratulations to Mr. McCloskey and our Grade 5 Girls Volleyball Team who finished 2nd in the CISVA Championships today! Our students have been amazing! We will have a fall sports assembly to honour all our fall sports teams who continue to impress. Good luck to our Boys’ Volleyball Teams who will compete in the coming weeks. WAY TO GO OLS!!

COVID UPDATE- TRAVEL ADVISORY!!- URGENT!
As many families are contemplating traveling to the US or internationally in the coming months, we wish to advise ALL families that all kids under 12, whether traveling with vaccinated, or unvaccinated adults, must stay away from school upon return for 14 days! These are Federal Government Regulations and any family who does not follow the Federal Travel Advisories and Restrictions maybe reported and fined. Please notify the office via e-mail if your child will be not attending school for 14 days post travel. Please see the links below:

https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/exemptions#unvaccinated

  • Children accompanying fully vaccinated travellers – Children under 12 do not need to “quarantine/self-isolate” and they can go outside their home, however, their movements are limited and one of the things they are restricted from doing is attend school for 14 days after return.
  • Children accompanying unvaccinated travellers – Unvaccinated children under the age of 12 travelling with unvaccinated parents must follow all testing and quarantine requirements – they are expected to be in full quarantine for 14 days and therefore cannot attend school.

We wish to thank our parents for continuing to follow 5 basic steps for COVID SAFETY and keeping each other safe!

  • Not attending school if ill (cough, colds, fever).
  • Washing hands frequently.
  • Wearing a mask indoors.
  • Respecting everyone’s personal space and practicing safe distancing.
  • Continuing to support each other by being kind and respecting each other’s needs for safety.

NEW NOTIFICATION METHOD FOR ABSENTEES & LATE NOTICES
If your child is going to be absent or late, our two preferred methods of notification are as follows:

  1. visit our website (https://ourladyofsorrows.ca/lates-absences/) and fill in all the requested information. Please note the new top tap ‘LATES & ABSENCES’; or
  2. email us at office@myolosschool.com.

If you do not complete one of the options above, upon your child’s return to school, you must send a note to the classroom teacher explaining the reason for the absence. Please ensure you include all dates absent.  If you have more than one child, we require a separate note for each one.  This information is required for our annual Attendance Audit which determines our government funding for the year.

UNIFORMS
Please read the Policy Manual, which is included in the students’ Agendas.  See page 5, item #5.  Teachers will be starting uniform checks by next week.  Please ensure all uniform items comply with the Uniform Policy.  As of October 1st, your child was required to come school in regular (not summer) uniform.

Please Note:  Sweaters or vests are mandatory for all school functions such as Masses, School Assemblies, Para-liturgies, and Fieldtrips when representing the school.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PARKING
Please be kind and respect all local parking and road speed signs for the safety of the children! Out of respect for our neighbours, DO NOT park in front of their houses or block driveways.

Especially, do not backup or drive the wrong way in drop-off zones. Please leave enough distance between cars!
