OCTOBER 27, 2023 – HALLOWEEN BASH – SOLD OUT!
The Halloween Bash is on Friday, October 27th from 6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. For those of you that purchased tickets to our Halloween Bash, please check your child(ren)’s backpack today as tickets have now been sent home. As this is a fun family event, we are asking that costumes do not have weapons, blood, or inappropriate scary accessories or masks.
OCTOBER 29, 2023 – FAMILY MASS – 11:30 A.M.
The Family Mass will be held on Sunday, October 29th at 11:30 a.m. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass. This is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy.
OCTOBER 31, 2023 – DRESS DOWN / COSTUME DAY
Students may dress down (e.g., orange, and black) or come in costume on Tuesday, October 31st. As this is a fun dress up day, we are asking that costumes do not have weapons, blood, or inappropriate scary accessories or masks.
OCTOBER 1-31, 2023 – READ-A-THON
Please refer to the notice that has been sent home with students for further details. Reminder, ALL reading records need to be handed in by November 1st at 3:00 p.m. to be eligible for prizes.

AGAPE STREET MINISTRY DONATIONS
Once again, we are reaching out to OLS families for their donations of extra Halloween candy. We will be accepting candy until Wednesday, November 8th. All candy donated will go to AGAPE Street Ministry.
ITALIAN CLASSES
The Italian Cultural Centre will once again be offering Italian classes for students in Grades 1-7 on Fridays from 2:45 – 4:45 p.m. from November 3, 2023 – March 8, 2024. Parents can now register their children online for the 15 Italian lessons offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary School, at this link.
This is a great opportunity to expose your children to a second language. These classes are conveniently scheduled on Fridays to help parents needing after school care. Classes run from November 3rd – March 8th.

WEATHER UPDATE!
As the weather gets colder and rainier, we are asking parents to ensure students come to school wearing proper jackets (with hoods) and appropriate shoes. Please do NOT send students who have gym in the morning wearing only PE strip! Students MUST stay outside until 8:35 a.m. as we must ensure adequate supervision at school while teachers are in staff prayer. Also, students may have to be outside throughout the day for recess or movement between the buildings (Gym and Church) as well as be able to stay in the rain for a minimum of 5 minutes if there is a fire or earthquake drill.

We are still needing help with our Golf Tournament as well as Children’s Liturgy for the Family Masses. Please email the office with your interest!
AFTER SCHOOL CLUB NEWS – IMPORTANT UPDATE!
Thank you to all the families that have inquired and registered for our secured spots in our After School Club. We still have a few spots available. Please email the office (office@myolosschool.com) if you are interested in using this service. As a result of being licensed we are now only allowed to have 20 students per group per day. Please call or email the office as soon as possible to reserve your spot! Families must be registered in advance and can drop in any day (Monday to Thursday). Drop in session options are for a minimum of 1 and maximum of 2 hours only (cost is $10 per hour). Drop-in rates are billed on an hourly basis. Families will be billed at the end of the month. Please note that you will only be billed for the days your child attends.
