Dear Parents,
We wish to thank our parents, teachers, and students for what has been a very difficult week as the news of the Kamloops Residential School discovery has been unfolding.
We will be continuing to update you as more information comes to us from the Federation of Independent Schools (FISA), Ministry of Education, CISVA and our RCAV leadership.
Please read the attached letters from our Archbishop of Vancouver Archdiocese, J. Michael Miller, CSB, and our Catholic Schools of Vancouver Superintendent, Deacon Henk Luyten.
We, as a Catholic School, also acknowledge the immense hurt and trauma this has caused to the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc people and all Canadians.
As a sign of respect and compassion, we will continue to fly our flag at half-mast for the remainder of this week. We will follow up with our 2nd orange day next Tuesday, June 8th with a final school prayer at 2:15 p.m. as we raise our flag. Our teachers have been using age-appropriate materials to help our students understand this issue as well as our need for continued support for “truth and reconciliation” during this most distressing time.
Today, Mrs. Radford’s Grade Ones, dedicated their gratitude School Mass for all those who have lost loved ones during this school year, including our staff. They also recognized the sorrow and grief that the discovery of these residential school bodies has caused for us all.

JUNE 7, 2021 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY – NO SCHOOL
There will be a Professional Development Day for OLS staff on Monday, June 7th. There will be no school for students on this day.
