PEC ELECTIONS 2025
We wish to thank our PEC members who will be leaving the school this year, Mrs. Cristina Morra our President, Mr. Roger Gil our Treasurer and Mr. Anthoni Pasqua head of our maintenance crew, who are long-standing members of our Parish Education Committee. As a result, there will be 3 positions to fill. If you are interested in applying for these PEC positions, please fill out the nomination form attached (please thoroughly read the eligibility and expectation requirements). Nomination forms MUST be signed by our nomination committee, Mirella Gargiulo or Sarah Morreau, and returned to the office by Monday, May 12th. All nominations will then be sent to the parish to be approved by Father Rosemond, our Pastor. All nominations must be a parishioner in good standing. Gr. 7 FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE – NEUFELD FARMS FUNDRAISER
To help get ready for the summer season, the Gr. 7 Fundraising Committee is having a Neufeld Farms Product sale. Ordering is available until Monday, May 12th. Pick up is on Thursday, May 22nd at 2:30 p.m.

WARM WEATHER ALERT
Due to the warmer weather, the children will now be spending more time outside. Therefore, we are asking the following:
- Send your child to school with a refillable water bottle, a hat and, if needed, apply sunscreen before arriving at school.
- The gate to the school parking lot will not be opened until 2:30 p.m. Please do not arrive earlier than 2:30 p.m. to pick-up your child(ren) and wait at the gate as this creates a backlog of traffic and a nuisance for the neighbourhood.
MAY 3, 2025 – FIRST COMMUNION NEWS
First Communion will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 5:00 p.m. We ask that all families arrive early on this day.
MAY 5, 2025 – SPRING UNIFORM NEWS
Students may wear their Spring uniform to school starting on Monday, May 5th. However, please note that students must be in FULL UNIFORM (Sweaters, vests or cardigans and black shoes) on Mass or special days.
MAY 9, 2025 – MOTHER’S DAY MASS
The Kindergarten class is leading this special Mass on Friday, May 9th at 9:00 a.m. Only Grades K-4 will attend this Mass. All parents are welcome to attend, especially Mothers and Grandmothers.
MAY 9, 2025 – HOLY CHILDHOOD MASS AT OUR LADY OF SORROWS PARISH
Thank you to our students and families who raised over $1,000.00 for the Holy Childhood Association. The cheque will be presented at the Mass by our OLS Grade 7 Leadership Council on Friday, May 9th at 11:00 a.m. Grades 5-7 will attend this Mass.

MAY 16, 2025 – OLS WALK-A-THON
Friday, May 16th, will be the annual OLS Walk-a-thon. Please refer to the notice that went home with students on Tuesday, April 29th. Reminder t-shirt order form is due back by Friday, May 2, 2025. Please note this day will be a full day of school.

The Grade Seven Confirmation Retreat will be held in school on Friday, May 23rd. Please refer to the information sent home by the Grade Seven teacher.
MAY 25, 2025 – FAMILY MASS (GR. 1)
The Family Mass will be held on Sunday, May 25th at 11:30 a.m. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass. This is a wonderful way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy.

REMINDERS
SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 – OLS GOLF TOURNAMENT IS BACK!!
We are excited to be hosting our Second Annual OLS Golf Tournament on Friday, September 5th, at Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club, in Pitt Meadows. This is an important fundraiser for our process of building a new school! We are hoping that families who golf, or families with businesses will join us for a fun day of community and support for our new school fund. Even if you are not a golfer, we are offering hole sponsorships and signs for only $500 per hole (tax receipts will be available). This is a great way to introduce your business to the greater OLS business community! If your business is interested in being a larger corporate sponsor, we can also accommodate your business needs. The deadline for our sponsorship holes is Friday, May 30th. Thank you to the many parents and vendors who have already committed, and we hope all our business parents and partners can help support this important Capital Campaign for our New School Building Fund! IMPORTANT UNIFORM UPDATE!!
We have been informed by Neat’s/McCarthy Uniform that our navy school sweaters and cardigans will no longer have the double white arm bands. There will be a new sweater available for the 2026-2027 Centennial school year. Therefore, Neat’s have agreed to discount the present sweater and cardigans up to 50% until the present stock runs out! So, any purchases for new sweaters for the 2025-2026 year will have to be replaced with the new sweater stock by September 2027. Only the new sweater will be available in 2026-2027. That gives parents 2 years before replacement of the present sweaters. We will also be designing a new 100-year OLS logo for our next Century for the new sweaters as well. The vests and other uniform items will not be affected.
ONGOING BOTTLE DRIVE – RETURN-IT EXPRESS
The Grade 7 Fundraising Committee is continuously collecting bottles. It’s easy! Simply place your empties in clear bags and drop them off at any “Return-It Express” depot. The school’s account is under our main phone number 604-253-2434.
