Dear Parents,

THE GRADE 7 HOT LUNCH PROGRAM IS BACK – ORDERING DEADLINE NOVEMBER 1ST!
Ordering for the 2024/2025 Grade 7 hot lunch program is now open and will close on Friday, November 1st at 3 p.m. Once the ordering is closed, we cannot accept any other orders. Orders that have not been paid for by November 1st at 3 p.m. may be cancelled. If you are paying by cash or cheque, it must be received by November 1st at 3 p.m. so that we can adjust your account. Payments can be made by cheque or cash (dropped off at the office in an envelope with your child’s name and grade on it) or by credit card online. Please note, the school is charged transaction fees for credit card payments so if you’d prefer to pay by cheque or cash, it would be greatly appreciated.

This ordering period will be from Tuesday, November 5th to Tuesday, June 10th. All lunches in this session must be ordered by the November 1st at 3 p.m. deadline.

OCTOBER 24, 2024 – INDIVIDUAL PHOTO RETAKE DAY
Retakes will be on Thursday, October 24th. Please have your child dressed in full uniform on this day if they wish to have their individual photo retaken. If you wish your child to have a retake, please let your child’s classroom teacher know. Please have students that would like to have a retake bring their proof sheet as there is a QR code on the back of the card we need to photograph the students!

OCTOBER 25, 2024 – HALLOWEEN BASH – SOLD OUT!
This year’s Halloween Bash is on Friday, October 25th from 6:00 -10:00 p.m. For those of you that purchased wristbands to our Halloween Bash, they will be sent home tomorrow with your child. Remember this is a family friendly event, therefore, no weapons, gory or scary costumes will be permitted. There is no dress down day or costumes during this school day.

OCTOBER 27, 2024 – FAMILY MASS – 11:30 A.M.
The Family Mass will be held on Sunday, October 27th at 11:30 a.m. We invite all families from OLS to celebrate the Family Mass. This is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy.

OCTOBER 31, 2024 – HALLOWEEN COLOUR / COSTUME DAY
Students may dress down (e.g., orange, and black) or come in costume on Thursday, October 31st. More information will be provided soon.

AGAPE STREET MINISTRY DONATIONS
Once again, we reach out to OLS families for their donations of extra Halloween candy. We will be accepting candy until Friday, November 8th. All candy donated will go to AGAPE Street Ministry.

REMINDERS

OCTOBER 1-31, 2024 – READ-A-THON
For Read-a-Thon details, please refer to the notices that was sent home with students. Reminder, ALL reading records need to be handed in by November 1st at 3:00 p.m. to be eligible for prizes. Until then, keep reading!

PARENT PARTICIPATION
For parents on fundraising or school or parish maintenance, please remember to signup for the events as all parents must have at least 12 hours (4 hours per month) by January 1st. Please send an email to the office if you are having trouble doing so. We are still looking for class 2 bus drivers. If you have your class 2 license and are able to assist, please email the office. Thank you to all our volunteer parents who help make our school better for all our students by your participation.

MORNING DROP-OFF
Thank you to all the parents who have adjusted their morning drop-off routine to our new process of staying in your vehicle, sticking to the righthand side of the cones and lining up at the stop sign and not at the school doors. Always follow the directions of our volunteer parking attendants. If you have many children (more than three) to drop off at one time, please pull over in front of the Rectory’s garage (behind the cones) and notify a parking attendant so they can guide the children to the sidewalk. Thank you for remembering that these parents are volunteers and to always be kind!

ARTONA PHOTO UPDATE
Your child’s photo is now available online! On photo day, your child brought home a notice from Artona with a QR code for ordering online. If you have any questions about ordering, please contact Artona at https://www.artona.com/contact-us or by telephone: 604-872-7272.

If you are not happy with your child’s photo or missed photo day, photo retake day will be on the morning of Thursday, October 24th.  Please have students that would like to have a retake bring their proof sheet as there is a QR code on the back of the card we need to photograph the students!
