Dear Parents,

Again, I wish to thank our students, staff, and all of you for following our enhanced COVID protocols. As mentioned today in Dr. Bonnie Henry’s latest update, the present order has been extended to February 16th, 2022. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/covid-19-bc-restrictions-gyms-gatherings-update-2022-1.6319119

Our school is still operating with advanced safety protocols. Our enhanced safety protocols include:

  • Being fully vaccinated if possible and doing a daily health check and staying home if sick.
  • Using available space to spread out and to respect other’s personal space.
  • Wearing masks when near others and when in hallways.
  • Washing hands regularly.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces at least once a day.
  • Staggered recess and lunch times.

Also, as per the BCCDC website here is what to do if you come into close contact of a positive case (households): http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/self-isolation#scenario2

As our families have been cautious about gatherings, (celebrations, birthday parties, and family gatherings over 10), and our school attendance has been very good through these last 2 weeks, we will now begin our extra- curricular activities next week. Basketball and Choir will resume starting January 24th.  We again are asking all students to complete a DAILY self-assessment for COVID symptoms, PRIOR TO ENTERING THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS, OR BEFORE ATTENDING ANY EXTRA- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES!

After School Club will also start this week (Monday – Wednesday). Please notify the office if you wish to restart your child for afterschool care and your regular days for next week.

CONTINUATION OF LEARNING
Students who miss school due to illness or isolation will be allowed to catch up any missed assignments prior to the end of the second term (March 4th, 2022). Please notify the office and your Childs’s classroom teacher of any absence requiring missed assignments to be picked up at the office. All students missing 3 or more days in a week will be able to pick up assignments on Thursdays afterschool at the office door, through seesaw, or will be assigned through google classroom. Thank you for your diligence!

SPECIAL BIRTHDAYS OR HOLIDAY TREAT UPDATE:
Many parents are wondering about birthday or class gifts. We will continue to allow commercially prepared food and hot lunches (as they are prepared with Food Safe protocols). HOWEVER, Valentine’s Day treats, gifts or cards will not be allowed this year. We will be using a non-contact/touchless way for students to celebrate Valentines and Friendship week, which begins February 14th and culminates on February 23rd (with our Kindness Colour Day). More information will follow from our classroom teachers, and you will receive an update in February before Catholic Schools Week. Please notify your child’s classroom teacher in advance for birthdays as no treats will be accepted at the office. Thank you for your understanding, and again, let us continue to work together to ensure the safety of everyone!

GRADE 7 FUNDRAISER BOTTLE DRIVE
Thank you to all the families that donated to the Grade 7 Bottle Drive.

Our bottle drive was a tremendous success! We raised a total of $657.75!!

The winning grade with 24 bags was Grade 7. Congratulations! We will be arranging a pizza lunch for this class!

We will continue to accept recyclables at any Express Return-It location until the end of May. Our goal is to reach $1,000.00.  All Funds go back to the students as our Grade 7 Grad legacy gift.

  • Bring unsorted containers in transparent bags to any Return-It Express location
  • Using the label kiosk, print off labels, tag each bag and leave it in designated area – use school phone number 6042532434 to log into the account

Please visit https://www.return-it.ca/locations/express/ to find a location near you.

Thank you for your continued support

JANUARY 30, 2022 – FAMILY MASS – 11:30 a.m. CONFIRMATION ENROLMENT MASS
The Family Mass will be on Sunday, January 30 at 11:30 a.m.  We invite all families from Grade 7 and OLS to celebrate the Family Mass with our OLS School Choir.  The OLS Family Mass is a great way for our families to attend and participate in the required Sunday liturgy.  Masses are safe as they are at 50% capacity and masks are required. Thank you for continuing to allow our students to participate in our safe and important faith experiences!
