REMINDERS & PARISH NEWS

SEPTEMBER 6, 2024 – OLS 1ST ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

Our First Annual Golf Tournament is almost sold out!! We are overwhelmed with the community response! We will announce all our amazing sponsors once they have all been confirmed later this month. We only have spots left for Gold Sponsors or 4-somes. If you haven’t yet registered your teams or sponsorships online, please do so asap! Click on the golf link below! Again, we are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our families and our greater school and Parish community! THANK YOU! https://forms.gle/ZppEamyPra8gxELy8

SEPTEMBER 14, 2024 – OLS PARISH GALA

The Parish is selling tickets to the Our Lady of Sorrows Gala on Saturday, September 14th. If your family or a group of parents wish to purchase tickets to this great community event, tickets are $75. Organize a table of 10 by June 21st and receive a free bottle of red or white wine. Tickets are available to purchase from the Parish office or via email  at dance@olos.ca.

Thank you for supporting our OLS Capital Campaigns! All proceeds from the Gala, and our First Annual Golf tournament are going directly to our NEW SCHOOL FUND! We are presently in the design phase with our Architects (“Think- Space”) along with our building committee. We are hoping to have a plan ready to present to the City of Vancouver in the fall. We sincerely appreciate the tremendous support from all families supporting these important fundraisers for our future school!

MORNING CARE and AFTER SCHOOL CLUB – SEPTEMBER 2024

As we are preparing staffing levels for next year, we are asking parents to complete a needs assessment for both Morning Care from 7:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. and After School Care from 2:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. We will also be going back to hourly billing and will not require monthly booking. As we only have 40 spots per day, 20 for primary (K-2) and 20 for intermediate (3-7), we require you to preregister for your essential weekly days to ensure we have enough spots available daily. The minimum to register is 1 day per week. The rate will be $10 per hour and these days will be billed hourly and not by the half-hour. Late pick up, starting at 5 p.m., will be charged $10 for every 15 minutes late. We hope to continue to help our working parents with before and after school care, however, we do also need to balance our staffing needs to continue to provide this service. Please complete the needs survey below:

7 FUNDRAISING – UPDATE FROM RETURN-IT EXPRESS

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**

Please note, we have received a final warning from Return-It Express regarding incorrect items in the deposit bags. Please ensure you do not have any remaining liquid, garbage, or organic food material mixed in with the deposit bags or containers. We greatly appreciate all your support, and it would be very disappointing to the current and future Gr. 7 classes if we were no longer able to run this fundraiser. Thank you for paying attention to this matter.

If you are new to this fundraiser and would like to take part, it’s easy! Simply place your empties in clear bags and drop them off at any “Return-It Express” depot (link to locations here). The school’s account is under our main phone number (604-253-2434).

Every year McCarthy Uniforms offers bundle savings to our school community. These bundles offer an additional coupon incentive that can be used later in the year to top up student’s uniforms. Please see the attached bundle flyer for further details. Uniforms should be examined and replaced as needed due to children outgrowing them or regular wear and tear.

PARENT PARTICIPATION NEWS

If you have not been contacted by the PEC, your volunteer position will stay the same for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your continued support.
