Dear parents,

COVID UPDATE – IMPORTANT!
Thank you to all the families who have isolated or kept their children home over these past few weeks to ensure both family and classroom safety. As mentioned before, the incident in our school is directly related to the incident of exposures in the Community. There has been an increase in cases especially in Burnaby and our surrounding school community. There have also been more cases of COVID-19 variants occurring as well.  Again, if in doubt please keep your children home and continue daily screening. Our preschool re-opened March 1st, and our Kindergarten class will reopen for in-class sessions tomorrow, March 3rd. We will continue to send home any missed assignments for those isolating or staying home as an extra precaution.

We are also asking if any families are travelling to their cabins or outside the lower mainland during breaks or weekends, to wait a minimum of 72 hours, symptom free, and to continue to monitor daily for any symptoms prior to their return to school. Also, all siblings must quarantine for 14 days if someone in your household has had a direct exposure to a positive case. Thank you to all our families who continue to do all you can to keep our OLS Community Safe!

REMINDERS:

SCHOOL SUPPLIES & LUNCH DROP-OFF REMINDER
We would like to remind you that due to the current COVID 19 restrictions, we wish to restrict calls home for supplies and lunches, so please have your child review daily routines and help them to prepare for their day prior to bedtime. We encourage your children to bring all necessary items, including lunches, to school daily. Every time a lunch or school supplies are dropped off at the office, we increase our risk to exposure. Thank you.

WEATHER UPDATE
Please note, as the weather gets colder and rainier, we are asking parents to ensure students have proper Jackets and shoes, as well as NOT sending students who have gym in the morning only with PE strip! Students MUST stay outside until 8:35 a.m. as we have to ensure adequate supervision in the school while teachers are in staff prayer. Also, students may have to be outside throughout the day for recess or movement between the buildings (gym and Church). Please send jackets with hoods for your children to school daily, as well as ensuring proper uniform. Thank you.
