MARCH 8, 2023 – IMPORTANT DATE! MANDATORY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The mandatory Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the school gym. A member from each family must attend this mandatory meeting or a fine will be charged as per the Policy Handbook on Page 12 of your child’s Agenda.  If you are unable to attend due to illness, vacation, etc., a letter must be sent addressed to the Parish Education Committee explaining why you will be absent from the meeting.

MARCH 8, 2023 – “SCREENAGERS” – PARENT MOVIE NIGHT!
We have secured the licencing to show our students and parents this award-winning film on the effects of screens on our children. We are asking our parents to stay after the AGM introductions to watch the film that is being shown in all our intermediate classes. The film is 58 minutes long and we will start the movie by 7:00 p.m.  Please note, this movie is appropriate for Grade 2 students and up, or any parent of students with phone or technology use. This is the only opportunity for our parents to preview this movie. All Parents are welcome to watch! Coffee and cookies will be provided.

MARCH 9, 2023 – DESK CLEAR OUT
Please send a large black garbage bag to school with your child on Thursday, March 9th.  The students will need the bag in order to clear out their entire desk for Spring Break cleaning. This does not pertain to kindergarten students.

MARCH 10, 2023 – GREEN COLOUR DAY & 12:00 P.M. DISMISSAL
On Friday, March 10th students may dress in green coloured clothing.

This is the last day of school before Spring Break. Dismissal is at 12:00 p.m.

MARCH 10, 2023 – REPORT CARDS
Report cards will go home on Friday, March 10th.  Please ensure you check your child’s bag and communication folders.

MARCH 12, 2023 – DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
Don’t forget that on Sunday, March 12th Daylight Savings Time begins and clocks “spring forward”

one hour. The time should be changed one hour ahead before going to bed on Saturday evening.

MARCH 13 – 24, 2023 – SPRING BREAK
The school will be closed for Spring Break the weeks of March 13th to March 24th.  School will reopen on Monday, March 27th. We would like to wish all families a safe and healthy Spring Break.

MARCH 28, 2023 – CURLING GRADE 5 STUDENTS
Grade 5 students will be participating in curling lessons this month. Grade 5 students Tuesday, March 28th.  Further details to follow.

MARCH 29, 2023 – STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES – 1:00 – 5:00 P.M. – 12:00 P.M. DISMISSAL
Wednesday, March 29th the student-led conferences will be held from 1:00 p.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m.  Please refer to your child’s confirmed scheduled time that will be sent home with report cards.  There will be 12:00 pm dismissal and NO After School Club on this day.

MARCH 29, 2023 – REGISTRATION PACKAGES DUE
Registration packages are due Wednesday, March 29th.  Please drop off the registration package at the office prior to going to the student-led conference.

REMINDERS

GR. 7 FUNDRAISING – ONGOING BOTTLE DRIVE – RETURN-IT EXPRESS
The Grade 7 Fundraising Committee is collecting bottles again this year. It’s easy! Simply place your empties in clear bags and drop them off at any “Return-It Express” depot (link to locations here). The school’s account is under our main phone number (604-253-2434).

LENT BOXES 
Lent boxes have been given to each student in Grades 1-7. All boxes will be collected after Easter Monday, Tuesday, April 11th. We ask that ALL students label their box with their name and house colour. We also ask that you print the amount collected on the box. Please use this opportunity to encourage your child to give alms (to do charitable work).

COMMUNITY EVENTS

MARCH 29 – APRIL 2, 2023 – MAN OF THE SHROUD EXHIBITION
St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Vancouver is inviting all Grades 6 to 12 students, teachers and parents to visit the Man of the Shroud Exhibition from Wednesday, March 29th to Sunday April 2nd. This exhibit of the Shroud of Turin – the burial cloth of Jesus Christ – has received numerous positive testimonies from both students and teachers from schools in other provinces across Canada. There will be four presentations on Thursday, March 30th and Friday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. There is no fee for the exhibit and/or lectures, however, donations will be gratefully accepted.
