Dear Parents,

Happy Thanksgiving! There is so much we are grateful for at OLS! Thank you for your generosity in support of recent events. $1,000 was collected for the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you especially for your food donations to our foodbank last week, and the “Tale of the Tape” activity. Our families brought in over 2200 items that were measured by our Grade 6 class. Thank you, Mr. Basso, for organizing this very important event for our community needs!

WEATHER UPDATE
Please note, as the weather gets colder and rainier, we are asking parents to ensure students come to school wearing proper jackets (with hoods) and shoes. Please do NOT send students who have gym in the morning wearing only PE strip! Students MUST stay outside until 8:35 a.m. as we have to ensure adequate supervision at school while teachers are in staff prayer. Also, students may have to be outside throughout the day for recess or movement between the buildings (Gym and Church). Thank you.

PARTICIPATION UPDATE
Thank you to all our parents who are now involved with their new groups. All groups are signed in by their team organizers. All new groups will be contacted by their group leaders this week.

We still require more parent volunteers for Children’s Liturgy (11:30 Mass), as well as Church Cleaning on Fridays at 2:00 p.m. We are also asking for some parents to help with Choir set up at Family Masses. If any parents wish to move from their groups into one of the above areas of need, please email the office ASAP. Thank you for getting involved in our OLS community and for helping us keep our school costs down!

ITALIAN CLASSES
The Italian Cultural Centre will once again be offering Italian classes for students in Grades 1-7 on Friday’s from 2:45 – 4:45 p.m. from November 3, 2023 – March 8, 2024.  If you are interested, please see the attached registration form.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB NEWS – IMPORTANT UPDATE!
Thank you to all the families that have inquired and registered for our secured spots in our After School Club. We still have a few spots available. Please email the office (office@myolosschool.com) if you are interested in using this service.  As a result of being licensed we are now only allowed to have 20 students per group per day. Please call or email the office as soon as possible to reserve your spot! Families must be registered in advance and can drop in any day (Monday to Thursday). Drop in session options are for a minimum of 1 and maximum of 2 hours only (cost is $10 per hour). Drop-in rates are billed on an hourly basis. Families will be billed at the end of the month. Please note that you will only be billed for the days your child attends.
