COVID – WEEKLY UPDATE!

As we hear of more local schools being impacted by COVID, we are thankful that our parents are, and student are continuing to be careful and following our guidelines. This week, I wish to thank all our new participation parents and especially our new pick-up and drop-off TRAFFIC supervisors for being committed to their weekly jobs and ensuring all our students are safe! Thank you to our parents who are following all our new rules and procedures as well.

Remember to continue to review the daily screening checklist (also found on the website) and continue to follow the return to school procedures found on the OLS’s  Newsletter-Reminders-2020-2021 for additional school information.

Also, you are reminded that our local health authority will notify the school of any direct exposures and if there happens to be any risks to our students, staff or families.

Please continue to follow the Vancouver Coastal Health website: www.vch.ca

And the exposure listings page: http://www.vch.ca/covid-19/school-exposures#.X4fbW8Vw86U.gmail

Thank you for your continued diligence!

CONGRATULATIONS!

I want to congratulate the students on a fantastic tale of the tape experience. This year we collected over 3,000 pieces. Thank you to all families for all your generous donations for the food bank, as the school greatly appreciates it!

Please go to our website www.ourladyofsorrows.ca and click under the students menu after the grade 7 class, the OLOS video page.  Mr. Stocker has added our Food Drive, Read-a thon and now our Terry Fox  videos!

Thank you to all our students who ran so well and all our families who donated for cancer research!

Make sure you check our all our new student videos!

INTERMEDIATE FALL SPORTS UPDATE- COMMUNITY SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES UPDATE!

We have now started our boys’ soccer program this week. Please see the update from our soccer coaches sent home last week. As long as we stay healthy, our plan is to play soccer in October, and start our boys’ and girls’ volleyball program in November. Hopefully as we continue on this positive trajectory of keeping COVID away from our cohorts through the fall, we are anticipating basketball starting in January. Thank you to all students and parents who are doing their part at staying active and safe while keeping our cohorts COVID FREE!

As some of our kids including our Option 4 children have also restarted their community sports and activities again, please read Dr Bonnie Henry’s update on community sports and spread.

Again, our grade cohorts are always separated from each other and all students play within their cohorts only!  We ask parents who wish to watch from safe social distances to continue to wear masks or stay AT LEAST 6FT APART.  Together we can stay safe until Christmas Break!
