DEAR PARENTS
Thank you for your attendance at our recent virtual Meet the Teacher Evening! We would also like to thank you for a wonderful start to the year, and we are excited about the already amazing parent volunteer and participation at our school. As mentioned in the meeting, we appreciate all your generosity in volunteering for our students. Volunteers help to keep our school running well and help us in offering more for every child. Thanks for your support of all we do! Our students have been amazing! We will be updating some of the school and parish volunteers list this week. Please respond to the google forms by Monday, October 4th. Thank you!!

NEW OLS WEBPAGE!
Please check out our NEW, www.ourladyofsorrows.ca parent resources section on our Web page. These resources will include updates from Vancouver Coastal Health, Provincial Health, and new parent resources for Anxiety and Emotional support. Please check out our new links to these parent supports and continue to inform your child’s classroom teacher of any concerns in your child’s behavior or emotional needs. Thank you to our webmaster, Mr. Alfredo Chu for his continued work on making our webpage and links a great source of information for our families. Please remember to check the website and calendars for updates PRIOR to calling the office. Thank you for keeping our school lines free for more serious and needed communications.

NEW NOTIFICATION METHOD FOR ABSENTEES & LATE NOTICES
If your child is going to be absent or late, our two preferred methods of notification are as follows:

  1. visit our website (https://ourladyofsorrows.ca/lates-absences/) and fill in all the requested information. Please note the new top tap ‘LATES & ABSENCES’; or
  2. email us at office@myolosschool.com.

If you do not complete one of the options above, upon your child’s return to school, you must send a note to the classroom teacher explaining the reason for the absence. Please ensure you include all dates absent.  If you have more than one child, we require a separate note for each one.  This information is required for our annual Attendance Audit which determines our government funding for the year.

PEC ELECTIONS 2021
We wish to announce that Christina Morra (secretary), and Lisa Mannella (participation) have been re-elected for PEC for another 2-year term. Thank you to all our hardworking PEC members for all you do to help administer our school!

SEPTEMBER 27 – OCTOBER 4, 2021 – VIRTUAL SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
Last year we missed the Book Fair due to COVID-19. This year, in order to keep the students and their family members safe, we are having a virtual Book Fair. The Book Fair will run from the morning of Monday, September 27th until the end of the day on Monday, October 4th. Following is the website link that will bring you to the Book Fair shopping site. Take your time to look over the books on offer, order and pay online, and the books will be delivered to the school to be distributed to the students. The school will receive 20% of the total amount ordered in free products from Scholastic Canada. In years past, the school has acquired many resources for free because of the generosity of parents purchasing books at the Book Fair. Thank you in advance for your support.
