COVID – WEEKLY UPDATE!
As we enter our second month of school, we are thankful that parents are being careful and following our guidelines. We must continue to maintain our social distance and/or wear masks when needed outside our gates as parents wait for their children.  You have all done a wonderful job at keeping our outbreak risk low and we must continue to be diligent until Christmas.

Again, as we approach the “regular” cold and flu season, it is important to note that any sick child will not function well at school. However, we acknowledge that it is OK to send kids to school if they have only mild cold type symptoms but not if they have any flu like symptoms. Please review the screening form. http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/about-covid-19/symptoms

Again, our teachers will ensure that any missed assignments from students staying home will be caught up when healthy. We will be moving our screening and “when to send kids to school” procedures page to our Newsletter – Reminder Page (see link below and/or our website). Thank you for your continued diligence! Thank you to all our parents and families who have followed all our safety first protocols! Let us continue to do our part to keep COVID spread out of the OLS School Community! Please continue to contact the school office with any questions or concerns or leave a message for me to contact you privately. Thank you for your diligence and care for one another! Please follow the VCH website for updates. http://www.vch.ca/covid-19/school-exposures

CROSS COUNTRY- INTERMEDIATE FALL SPORTS UPDATE
Thank you to our wonderful student runners and Mr. McCloskey for participating so well in our adapted Cross-Country Program. Our students ran extremely well in PE and at their individual cohort meet today at Callister Park!

As we have all been able to carefully manage our cohort’s health so far, we will now be starting our boys’ soccer program next week. Please see the update from our soccer coaches later this week. As long as we stay healthy, our plan is to start soccer in October, and our boys’ and girls’ volleyball program in November. Hopefully as we continue on this positive trajectory of keeping COVID away from our cohorts through the fall, we are anticipating basketball starting in January. Thank you to all students and parents who are doing their part at staying active and safe while keeping our cohorts COVID FREE!
