DEAR PARENTS

Thank you for a great first month of school! Our students and teachers have been reintroduced to full student participation in classroom activities and to our restart of extra-curricular, while continuing to work through the new COVID masking rules. Again, thank you to all parents for complying to the new orders as well as the requirements for exemptions. Our goal is to continue to keep kids safe while keeping the politics out! Again, I am asking parents to please refrain from arguing the “science” from different sources and opinions especially in chats or on the parking lot, and to continue to focus on keeping our students happy and safe during this transitional COVID year. I am very proud of all the efforts of our students and staff and especially all our parents who are doing all they can to keep our school and parish community safe and continuing to follow our school’s safety procedures.

  • Not attend school if ill (cough, colds, fever)
  • Wash hands frequently.
  • Wear a mask indoors unless they cannot
  • Respect individuals’ personal space, and practice safe distancing
  • Continue to support each other by being kind in these most trying times.

Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM!!

Congratulations to Mr. Mccloskey, our staff coaches and especially our runners for a great start to the 2021-2022 CISVA Athletics Season! Our top 36 cross country students from Grade 2-7 ran yesterday at the CISVA Cross- Country Championships at Swangard. It was a great day with many personal bests! We are so proud of the effort of our students as we again placed in the top 5 out of 40 elementary schools and in the top 3 in small schools (under 250 students). Our students were well prepared and well supported by our parents cheering for them in the stands! We are so proud of their efforts!! Check out our @olseagles Instagram page for pictures! Well Done OLS!!

NEW NOTIFICATION METHOD FOR ABSENTEES & LATE NOTICES

If your child is going to be absent or late, our two preferred methods of notification are as follows:

  1. visit our website (https://ourladyofsorrows.ca/lates-absences/) and fill in all the requested information. Please note the new top tap ‘LATES & ABSENCES’; or
  2. email us at office@myolosschool.com.

If you do not complete one of the options above, upon your child’s return to school, you must send a note to the classroom teacher explaining the reason for the absence. Please ensure you include all dates absent.  If you have more than one child, we require a separate note for each one.  This information is required for our annual Attendance Audit which determines our government funding for the year.

UNIFORMS

Please read the Policy Manual, which is included in the students’ Agendas.  See page 5, item #5.  Teachers will be starting uniform checks by next week.  Please ensure all uniform items comply with the Uniform Policy.  As of October 1st, your child was required to come school in regular (not summer) uniform.

Please Note:  Sweaters or vests are mandatory for all school functions such as Masses, School Assemblies, Para-liturgies, and Fieldtrips when representing the school.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PARKING

Please be kind and respect all local parking and road speed signs for the safety of the children! Out of respect for our neighbours, DO NOT park in front of their houses or block driveways.

Especially, do not backup or drive the wrong way in drop-off zones. Please leave enough distance between cars!
